This position is responsible for a number of tasks, including, but not limited to:
- Patrols assigned areas to prevent crime and detect violations.
- Arrest violators.
- Familiarizes self with patrol areas and people residing in the area.
- Directs traffic.
- Follows OSHA procedures to ensure safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in training as directed.
The successful candidate will have:
- High school diploma or GED
- Successfully pass the required physical agility and written exams required by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy
- General knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Ability to comprehend and articulate complex facts and relationships in detail and summarization.

The salary rate for this position is $76,680.14/ $36.86 per hr. - $99,097.26/ $47.643 per hr. depending on qualifications. Certified Officer starting salary at $80,715.25/$38.80 per hr. The City offers an excellent benefits package.
