Job Description

Role Overview

FIS is seeking a senior Enterprise Platform Product Counsel to provide strategic legal support for FIS's enterprise platform offerings. This new role is part of FIS's dedicated Product Counsel team supporting Data, AI, Technology, Fraud and Enterprise Platform priorities, with the Enterprise Platform role identified as a Senior Counsel position within the Product Counsel team. The role is designed for an experienced product lawyer who can partner closely with platform, technology, product, sales, compliance, privacy, security and business stakeholders to support products that are foundational to FIS's enterprise offerings.

Enterprise platforms require legal support that is embedded, technically fluent and commercially pragmatic. FIS's internal guidance expects product counsel to understand delivery models, data flows, system design, client-facing commitments, third-party dependencies, regulatory requirements, security posture, vendor risk considerations and contracting architecture. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic legal owner for assigned platform products, helping FIS accelerate innovation, compress time to deal, reduce rework and build regulator and customer trust through governance by design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary legal resource and product legal owner for assigned enterprise platform offerings, operating as an integrated generalist and single-threaded owner of legal strategy for those products.
  • Embed with product, technology, implementation, support, sales, compliance, security, privacy and business leaders to provide legal support from early-stage ideation through launch, production support and sunset or migration.
  • Advise on platform delivery models, including SaaS, hosted, on-premise and other deployment models, as well as related data flows, hosting or geography changes and third-party dependencies.
  • Support enterprise platform contracting architecture, including FIS Terms & Conditions, orders, solution terms, pricing attachments, product specifications, support policies and related client-facing documentation.
  • Ensure platform contract terms and operational commitments are aligned with approved enterprise positions on security, privacy, subcontracting, service levels, audit, vendor management and incident response.
  • Partner with product leadership to define legal launch readiness, including required approvals, contract readiness, go-to-market artifacts, template availability and internal alignment on product-specific legal risks.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of platform functionality, roadmap, revenue priorities, sales pipeline, implementation model, support obligations, vendors, client expectations and regulatory context.
  • Identify and coordinate legal dependencies across privacy, data protection, security, intellectual property, regulatory, consumer protection, commercial and litigation issues.
  • Support vendor and partner work where platform knowledge is required, including review of vendor relationships, critical third-party dependencies, pass-through obligations, subcontractor responsibilities and change-management issues.
  • Attend sales pipeline calls, support RFP responses and negotiate platform-related commercial agreements while integrating product knowledge, regulatory awareness and commercial judgment.
  • Manage template updates and release discipline for platform terms and referenced documentation, including coordinating publication timing, version control and retirement of outdated forms.
  • Advise on client audits, security reviews, penetration testing requests and vendor risk management processes, coordinating with the designated teams and ensuring client-facing positions follow approved guidance.
  • Support disputes and operational issues involving platform offerings, including change management, specifications, notice obligations, cure mechanics, third-party dependencies and factual development for litigation or dispute resolution.
  • Develop training and knowledge-transfer materials for internal legal colleagues, sellers and business teams, including annotated contract documentation, fallback positions, non-negotiables, product overviews, escalation triggers and negotiation trends.
  • Establish backup coverage and maintain a current product counsel knowledge base so platform legal support remains seamless during leave, transitions or succession planning.

Required Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum of 9 years of relevant legal experience, with significant experience advising on enterprise software, SaaS, hosted platforms, technology services, financial technology, banking technology or commercial technology transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to support complex platform products across product development, launch, contracting, compliance coordination, security reviews, vendor risk management, disputes and lifecycle management.
  • Strong technical fluency, including the ability to understand architecture diagrams, data flows, system design and legal implications of engineering or platform decisions.
  • Experience drafting, negotiating and maintaining commercial technology agreements, solution terms, order forms, specifications, support terms, pricing attachments and related product documentation.
  • Experience advising on security, privacy, third-party risk, subcontracting, audit, service levels, incident response or operational commitments in client-facing technology products.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively across legal specialists, compliance, security, privacy, product, sales and business leadership to deliver unified and practical legal guidance.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume, business-critical legal work while identifying process improvements and scalable contracting solutions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting enterprise platforms used by banks, credit unions, payment providers, financial institutions or other regulated clients.
  • Familiarity with client security reviews, audit requests, third-party penetration testing processes, vendor risk management and recurring enterprise security negotiation issues.
  • Experience with API products, platform integrations, specifications, pricing metrics, pass-through fees or third-party IP indemnity structures.
  • Experience creating or maintaining contracting stacks that include master terms, orders, solution terms, pricing attachments, product specifications and operational policies.
  • Experience developing scalable legal playbooks, product legal one-pagers, annotated negotiation guides, template release plans and training programs for sales and legal teams.
  • Experience advising in fast-moving enterprise software or fintech environments where legal support must accelerate innovation while reducing regulatory, commercial and operational risk.
