Position DescriptionJOB OVERVIEWThe Enterprise Fleet Manager is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of all company vehicles and large trucks, including light-duty pickups, heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and construction support assets. This role oversees compliance, availability, reliability, cost control, and safe operation of the fleet. The Fleet Manager assists in preventive maintenance planning, repairs coordination, vendor relationships, parts and fuel programs, and lifecycle planning (spec'ing, acquisition, and disposal). The Enterprise Fleet Manager will directly lead the GPS/telematics administration and driver training. Work is primarily conducted at the shop/yard/office with periodic visits to field sites and vendors.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Fleet Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute annual fleet plan covering utilization targets, uptime goals, replacement schedule, and budget adherence.
- Lead and support driver training initiatives, including onboarding, ongoing coaching, and reinforcement of safety, compliance, and performance standards.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure DOT compliance (inspections, DVIRs, annuals), CDL/med card tracking, permits, registrations, and adherence to OSHA-compliant work practices and company safety policies.
- Budget & Cost Control: Build the fleet budget; manage cost per mile/hour, parts and labor, warranty recovery, outside services, and fuel program performance; report monthly KPIs.
- Schedule and permit wide and legal loads for enterprise moves.
- Asset Lifecycle: Assist spec'ing and purchase of new units.
- Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate fleet records, titles, and service history; publish weekly uptime/utilization dashboards and monthly scorecards.
- Program Ownership: Administer GPS/telematics platform(s) for all vehicles/equipment, including user roles, device inventory, installations, RMA swaps, and data governance.
- Utilization & Productivity: Track engine hours, idling, PTO usage, and location to drive higher utilization and right-sizing decisions; reduce unnecessary rentals/ITO's and standby time.
- Preventive Maintenance Automation: Assist setting service reminders from odometer/hours; integrate fault codes (DTCs) and alerts to trigger work orders and mobile service dispatch.
- Safety & Driver Behavior: Monitor speeding, harsh events, seatbelt use, and geofenced jobsite compliance; coach drivers; partner with Safety on corrective actions and recognition
- Compliance Support: Use ELD/telematics data to support IFTA, IRP mileage, and DOT audits; maintain inspection logs and GPS proof of service where required
- Theft Prevention & Recovery: Maintain geofences and after-hours alerts; coordinate with authorities and insurers for asset recovery when necessary.
- Fuel & Emissions: Integrate telematics with fuel card data to identify anomalies, reduce idle fuel burns, and support emissions reporting goals.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES- Model and enforce company safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices; participate in safety meetings and audits.
Position RequirementsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS- High school diploma or GED. Associate's or Bachelor's in Business, Logistics, Diesel Technology, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of fleet or equipment management experience in construction, heavy civil, logistics, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, DVIR, annual inspections, and OSHA-compliant shop practices.
- Proficiency with fleet management systems, GPS/telematics dashboards, and MS Office.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- CDL Class A or B (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Experience with ELD compliance, IFTA/IRP reporting, and fuel card administration.
- Prior experience spec'ing heavy trucks/trailers and coordinating upfits (bodies, cranes, PTOs, hydraulics).
- Background with construction support equipment (e.g., skid steers, compressors, light towers) and concrete/heavy highway environments.
