Position Overview

As an Enterprise Architect Sr., within PNC's Technology organization, you can be based in Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville OH, Birmingham AL, Phoenix AZ, Dallas TX or Denver CO.

The Enterprise Business Architect Senior collaborates with business and technology leaders across the enterprise to create and maintain the business architecture artifacts that connect strategy, capabilities, investments, and technology decisions.

The objective of this role is to establish a clear business architecture foundation that enables strategic planning, portfolio rationalization, transformation roadmaps, and enterprise decision-making. This role serves as a key partner to business leaders, enterprise architects, solution architects, and technology stakeholders to ensure initiatives are aligned to business outcomes and enterprise priorities.

This senior-level role requires strategic thinking, relationship management, facilitation, and analysis skills to guide stakeholders through business capability assessments, operating model discussions, target-state development, and transformation planning.

This role operates within a TOGAF-oriented Enterprise Architecture practice responsible for defining and maintaining business architecture artifacts, supporting architecture governance processes, and providing guidance from strategic planning through execution.

Key Deliverables
Strategy
• Develop business architecture strategies that support enterprise and line-of-business objectives.
• Translate strategic priorities into business capabilities, value streams, and operating model changes.
• Create business architecture roadmaps that demonstrate progress toward target-state outcomes.
• Establish measurable business outcomes and success criteria that guide transformation initiatives.
• Evaluate strategic initiatives for alignment with enterprise goals and architectural direction.
Business Architecture
• Develop and maintain enterprise capability maps and business capability taxonomies.
• Create current-state and target-state business architecture views for strategic initiatives.
• Analyze business operating models and identify opportunities for optimization and simplification.
• Facilitate capability-based planning and investment discussions across business and technology stakeholders.
• Identify business gaps, redundancies, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
Business Analysis & Planning
• Conduct capability assessments to identify strengths, weaknesses, risks, and opportunities.
• Support portfolio rationalization efforts through capability and business outcome analysis.
• Produce business architecture recommendations supported by data, analysis, and architecture artifacts.
• Define transition roadmaps that connect business priorities with technology investments.
• Evaluate business impacts, dependencies, and organizational implications of major initiatives.
Transformation
• Partner with strategic programs and transformation initiatives to ensure alignment to business objectives.
• Support the definition of future-state business models, value streams, and customer journeys.
• Guide stakeholders in understanding the business implications of technology decisions.
• Establish traceability between business goals, capabilities, initiatives, and outcomes.
• Drive consistency in business architecture practices across enterprise transformation efforts.
Collaboration
• Partner with business executives, product leaders, technology leaders, and architecture teams.
• Collaborate with enterprise, application, data, technology, and security architects to produce integrated architecture views.
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions to align stakeholders around business priorities and target states.
• Serve as a trusted advisor for business architecture best practices and strategic planning activities.
• Provide thought leadership and mentorship across the architecture community.
Governance
• Ensure business architecture artifacts adhere to enterprise standards and methodologies.
• Support architecture governance reviews by providing business context and strategic alignment analysis.
• Define and maintain standards for capability mapping, value stream modeling, and business architecture documentation.
• Measure progress toward strategic objectives and recommend corrective actions when needed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the enterprise architecture practice.

Job Description
  • Provides subject matter expertise for enterprise architecture, enterprise architecture teams, and clients. Guides on enterprise architecture projects and business relationship management. Creates strategic roadmaps for transitioning to target enterprise future state, in alignment with business and technology goals while analyzing client requirements and collaborating with R&D divisions to provide ongoing support.
  • Leads in the implementation of enterprise architecture strategies and best practices to support business objectives, while focusing on enterprise standards, processes, and methodologies.
  • Provides guidance to enterprise architects on defining technical service capabilities, design attributes, draft enterprise profiles and segment architecture; controls risks and solves complex issues related to enterprise architecture.
  • Maintains relationships with stakeholders, addresses stakeholder requirements and provides clients consultations to shape the future success of enterprise architecture while also mitigating risk.
  • Provides enterprise architecture support by directing teams in baseline, target and roadmap development, transition planning, system and security management and segment architecture.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $112,000.00 - $249,600.00

Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
