Essential Functions- System Design & Modernization: Architect scalable, resilient, and secure application ecosystems, leading the transition of legacy systems into modern, cloud-native architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Technical Leadership: Drive architectural decisions, lead system design reviews, and establish coding standards and best practices for the engineering teams.
- Strategic Alignment: Work closely with business and data architects to evaluate products and projects, ensuring application designs align with strategic business initiatives and industry trends.
- AI-Driven Development: Use AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot) as a natural part of your daily workflow to accelerate implementation, draft documentation, and make sense of unfamiliar codebases.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure that all architectural designs and AI-assisted outputs are validated against enterprise needs, including security, compliance, performance, and reliability.
- Mentorship: Actively mentor and support developers and less senior colleagues, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Complex Problem Solving: Provide high-level technical advice and hands-on coding support to resolve complex production and integration challenges.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Architecture & Design: Deep understanding of modern application architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture, API design).
- Hands-on Builder: Willingness to be hands-on with code-this role goes beyond diagrams and planning.
- Core Tech Stack: Strong, expert-level knowledge of Java development and its modern ecosystems.
- Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience designing and deploying applications in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- AI Tooling: Comfortable using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as part of your everyday workflow for learning, building, and documenting.
- Communication: Strong communicator who can seamlessly connect with business stakeholders, vendor teams, and developers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Broad Knowledge: General knowledge of hardware, software, and network architecture dependencies.
- Bonus: AI Native knowledge and experience integrating AI/ML models into enterprise applications is a major plus.
Minimum EducationBachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information Systems and/or equivalent formal.
Minimum ExperienceFive (5) years equivalent work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.
Domicile Information:This position is eligible for remote work and may be located anywhere within the United States excluding AK, HI and U.S. territories, however if you live within the 50 miles radius of a campus you will be required to work at a FedEx campus location several times per week.
