Position Description:

We are seeking an experienced architect with strong microservices architecture expertise to lead the design, modernization, and governance of enterprise scale distributed systems across a hybrid, heterogeneous environment. This role is as much about modernizing and integrating existing systems as it is about designing new ones and is a critical link between high level strategy and technical execution, providing direct support to Enterprise Application, Infrastructure, Data, and AI leadership.
The preferred location for this role is in Montreal, Canada.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

.Architecture Planning: Define, maintain or support enterprise architecture strategy, standards and best practices. Lead or act as a go to person for decisions around APIs, microservices, containers, observability and cloud native systems. Provide guidance on when to use an API first microservices approach for scale versus structured or modular options for speed and reduced complexity.
.Solution Design & Implementation Support: Evaluate the business requirements and design scalable, resilient and secure enterprise solutions based on microservices or through a structured or modular architecture. Support implementation teams.
.Application Modernization: Support integration and modernization of legacy and vendor systems, including those without native APIs. Architect API strategy across On premise enterprise platforms like Oracle PeopleSoft ERP HCM, Oracle Analytics, SharePoint or MS Dynamics CRM, and cloud services, including via the use of API gateway and management solutions.
.Technical Coaching & Enablement: Provide support and guidance to development and infrastructure delivery teams. Mentor developers on microservices patterns and DevSecOps integration.
.Cross Domain Integration: Collaborate with Application, Infrastructure, Security, Data and AI leadership and teams. Ensure the enterprise AI blueprint aligns with core microservices architecture, including how AI workloads are delivered as services and how AI agents consume internal APIs. Partner with data strategy owner to ensure that service boundaries, data ownership, and event flows support enterprise data strategy in a distributed environment.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
.10+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in Solution or Enterprise Architecture.
.Strong experience designing microservices based distributed systems.
.Demonstrated experience modernizing and integrating enterprise systems.
.Experience architecting in hybrid environments with significant On premise footprint alongside cloud services.

.Microservices and Integration Architecture (strangler fig, anti corruption layers, event driven patterns)
.API Design, gateways, service mesh, security and API management (e.g. REST, GraphQL, gRPC, ISTIO, mTLS, OAUTH/OIDC, Apigee, Kong, Azure APIM)
.Containers & Orchestration: Experience with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes in hybrid environments, and also with Docker/Podman.
.Developer Experience: Familiarity with multiple enterprise language ecosystems, (Java, .net, node, python,...). Knowledge of OpenShift Developer Hub (Backstage) or modern developer self service portals. Practical experience with AI solution design and coding assistants. Messaging and Streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ). Understanding of the infrastructure requirements for data heavy applications and AI model deployment (Vector DBs, GPU scheduling).
.CI/CD Pipelines, DevSecOps, Pipelines and Infrastructure as Code: Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, Tekton, Quay) and security scanning integration (Prisma, SonarQube, Snyk), Terraform.
.Hybrid Integration: Experience connecting modern cloud native apps with legacy enterprise systems. Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP.
.Preferred Certifications: TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP Architect, Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD)

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $115,000-$165,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
