What you'll be doing...The Edge Transport & Firewall NMC is seeking motivated and driven engineers to support management of Verizon's Generation Network (OTNGN), eNSE, VCP and various platforms across the network. We are a 24x7 highly visible Operations environment, which focuses on ensuring that the network remains available, reliable and secure. The eNMC offers effective network management tools and standard processes to communicate network events across the business related to short term break/fix outages to longer term issues. Continuous improvement driving our business and troubleshooting working strategies that will minimize network events of our Voice and Data Networks.
- Monitoring voice and data network architectures to identify performance impairments, hardware/software faults, and network alarms.
- Performing rapid triage, fault isolation, and root-cause remediation for complex network events.
- Generating, driving, and resolving incident tracking tickets across enterprise management tools.
- Leading technical outage bridges with cross-functional teams, keeping calls focused, efficient, and aligned on rapid resolution.
- Delivering clear, concise, and timely status updates to executive leadership and external stakeholders during active incidents.
- Maintaining comprehensive incident summaries and timelines to support post-event reporting and executive debriefs.
- Guiding, mentoring, and training junior engineers on operational workflows, troubleshooting strategies, and system tools.
- Monitoring alarm systems, call queues, and metrics to ensure team responsiveness to high-priority events.
- Building strong collaborative relationships across internal operational teams and external vendors to optimize network management processes.
What we're looking for...You'll need to have:
- Associate's degree or two or more years of work experience.
- Three or more years of relevant work experience in network operations or engineering.
- Flexibility to work any shift based on business needs in a 24/7 operational environment.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a business-related field.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, and F5 equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers).
- Strong working knowledge of IP telecommunications, routing protocols (BGP, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS, LDP), and cloud/virtualization technologies (SDN/NFV).
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage high-impact network outages under pressure.
- Experience with wireless technologies, vendor escalation management, and data-driven decision-making.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience leading incident response calls.

Where you'll be workingIn this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
