SUMMARY:  

 

The Engineering Technician VI will work directly with the Government personnel in meeting the engineering needs of the project. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

•    Provides leadership and execution of Range Operations and Sustainment in support of all testing.•    Contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work.•    Reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others.•    Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.•    Utilizes project leadership and organizational skills.•    Handles projects and resolves associated issues, promotes accountability, and meets strict deadlines.•    Ensures comprehensive data-driven recommendations for process enhancements, thus maximizing results and supporting strategic decision-making.•    Trains and may be assisted by lower level technicians.•    Designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment.•    Conducts tests or experiments.•    Analyzes results and redesigns or modifies range and lab equipment and systems to improve performance and reports results.

•    Develops designs for Range equipment without critical performance requirements which are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry from general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements).•    Uses untried and untested measurement techniques to assess the ability to improve/upgrade range capabilities.•    Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems.•    Prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.•    Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance.•    Facilitates range equipment modification to meet defined test requirements and procedures.•    Conducts tests using all types of instruments.•    Facilitates the collection of the needed test data to support the data analysis and test results processes.•    Prepares designs and specifications for various complex range equipment or systems.•    Plans approach to solve design problems.•    Conceives and recommends new design techniques.•    Assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system.•    Designs and coordinates test set-ups.•    May advise equipment users on redesign to solve unique operational deficiencies.•    Plans approach and conducts various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by difficult performance requirements because of conflicting attributes such as versatility, size, and ease of operation or unusual combination of techniques or components.•    Arranges for fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment.•    Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSURE:

 

•    Associate's degree, OR equivalent training/experience with a high school diploma or equivalent is required.•    Certifications related to specific areas of T&E equipment and technology (e.g., Certified Test Technician) is desired.•    Eleven (11) years of proven experience in independently leading full-scale projects of broad and complex scope that involved significant engineering expertise or a specialist’s depth in a unique aspect of an engineering field.•    Advanced proficiency in technical capabilities in diagnosing and resolving complex operational or technical challenges within a T&E environment.•    Advanced technical acumen in instrumentation and methodologies related to T&E.•    Strong skills in using untried and untested measurement techniques.•    Capacity to perform technical reviews and audits to validate design adherence to standards and verify that project outputs meet or exceed expected standards.•    Advanced ability to lead technical teams, adept at training, mentoring, and providing expert advice to peers, fostering an environment of continual improvement.•    Demonstrated project leadership and organizational skills, demonstrating the ability to independently handle projects and resolve associated issues, promoting accountability, and meeting strict deadlines.•    Strong analytical skills, ensuring comprehensive data-driven recommendations for process enhancements, thus maximizing results and supporting strategic decision-making.•    Any Military operations experience preferred.•    Experience in designing and overseeing sophisticated test equipment, such as advanced data logging systems or automation-integrated T&E setups preferred.•    Substantial involvement in testing and troubleshooting military-grade systems, offering unique insights into system functionality and performance enhancements preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:

 

DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS: As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
