Engineering Technical Leader - Process

Job Description

In this role, you will:
  • Provide technical leadership and subject-matter expertise in the DRC Tissue manufacturing and converting processes to lead overall process optimization through application of technology, implementation of best practice standards, building capability within the salary & hourly teams, and driving cost savings programs within the mill.
  • Support the following customers: Mill Leadership Team, Tissue Manufacturing and Converting Asset Teams, Site Technical Team, Hourly Operations & Maintenance Team, Staff Engineering Team, and Vendors.
  • Provide leadership in corporate safety, quality, regulatory, product safety and sustainability.
  • Support the application of the Quality Management Process in all assignments and responsibilities.
  • Ensure that all elements of the corporate Human Resources Development and Diversity policy are fully supported as appropriate for the position.
  • Manage self in accordance with the Kimberly-Clark Ways of Working, utilize LEAN principles in the development and management of work and drive change within the organization as a role model for process improvement.
  • Protect and defend Kimberly-Clark proprietary technology, products, and business processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.
  • Conceive, develop, validate, share and teach ideas leading to new or improved products, processes, materials, systems or basic scientific knowledge as appropriate to the business unit and peer plants.
  • Locate existing, internal or external, or novel technology solutions for process and product needs.
  • Possess 3+ years of commercialization experience to enable realization of business unit strategies. Recommend strategies to protect novel technology solutions to sustain identified advantages in market.
  • Apply engineering principles, standards and procedures in the execution of projects and programs that advance process innovation.
  • Strong analytical/statistical skills and ability to mine process data from MES systems and provide clear direction for areas of improvement.
  • Experienced working with external technical service providers and suppliers.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members to increase technical knowledge which provides opportunity for professional growth.
  • Implement documentation and reporting of unit work as required by Kimberly-Clark policy. Ensure protection of proprietary information in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to discuss technical issues in a business environment (mill technical and operations resources, suppliers, management, etc.).
  • Communicate appropriately with all customers, conducting all communications and transactions with the utmost integrity and honesty to build an unimpeachable business reputation.
  • Support Lean Six Sigma methodology through mentoring of candidates, as well as preference to either be LSS black belt certified or actively working towards certification.
  • Provide technical leadership and cost savings/optimization program development and proactively support business strategies.
  • Drive and recommend actions to realize goals.
  • Work collaboratively with R&D and peer mills to support their technical needs.
  • Identify best practices, determine project management details and monitor progress.
  • Implement vision of future direction, drive innovation in the development of new product, process, or material concepts.
  • Coach and mentor other team members and effectively communicate accomplishments.
  • Actively pursue and support standard solutions across the site and within the Tissue Business Unit.

  • Bachelor's degree in sciences, engineering or related discipline.
  • 15+ years of industrial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience combined with demonstrated track record leading and directing technical teams and projects that successfully meet business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in a key part of the Kimberly-Clark proprietary knowledge base.
  • Subject matter expert in papermaking manufacturing technologies, products, processes and materials.
  • Direct experience with Tissue Manufacturing operation and/or process development preferred.
  • Ability to effectively influence across all levels and functions in the organization, drive decision-making and execute complex projects within demanding timelines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including complex problem solving, with the ability to conduct larger problem-solving sessions on business-critical issues (in this mill or other areas of business).
  • LSS methodology and ability to progress to the Black belt level.

Salary Range: 127,600 - 157,600 USD
At Kimberly-Clark, pay is just one aspect of our total rewards package, which also includes a variety of benefits and opportunities to achieve, thrive and grow. Along with base pay, this position offers eligibility for a target bonus and a comprehensive benefits suite, including our 401(k) and Profit Sharing plan. The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience. Please note that the stated pay range applies to US locations only.
