Job Summary:

The Integrated Components Division (ICD) designs and manufactures embedded components that enhance machine performance, quality, and safety. Working closely with product groups and business partners, ICD supports current designs—such as seals, gaskets, and isolation mounts—while driving innovation, sustainability, and global availability. All components are engineered with long-term serviceability and aftermarket needs in mind.

As the Engineering Team Lead of the Dynamic Seals Team within Seals and Mounts Solutions, you will have direct oversight and the ability to steer how Caterpillar operates within this space, dictating the use of new and exciting technologies available within the field, as well as guiding and mentoring your team members through arduous and exciting projects that will challenge your technical abilities and will require utmost attention to detail, and collaboration skills. Within this space, you will be challenged to quickly understand problems, identify the root cause, and guide your team through challenging projects that will directly link to tackling our customers' toughest challenges.

Additionally, as a Team Lead, you will be required to directly interface with internal CAT teams, along with external suppliers and partners, to ensure the wellbeing of the product lines under your direct supervision. This will not only be your opportunity to learn and develop the seal space, but this will also be your opportunity to take ownership of one of the toughest and most critical product lines within Caterpillar.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and mentor a team responsible for a wide-ranging portfolio of components used in all CAT applications, ranging from Power and Energy to Mining and beyond.
  • Define technical direction, priorities and workload planning for the team
  • Support team members through issue resolution, ensuring that all project requirements are met, and that all deliverables are submitted to stakeholders accurately and on time
  • Support the development and expansion of Dynamic Lip Seal supplier base, ensuring parts are properly tested and validated to meet customer demands
  • Review product line health, and identify and execute in areas of opportunity to ensure Sustainable Value Creation
  • Work with various organizations within Caterpillar to understand customer challenges and support the team in the development of custom solutions to our customers' toughest challenges.
  • Directly interface with CAT suppliers and partners to review and quickly address manufacturing and supply challenges
  • Interact with our partner organization in Procurement to help identify areas of opportunity and development for the various product lines owned by the Dynamic Seals Team
  • Work with your team to help them grow and develop within their roles

Education requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering curriculum.

Products and Services: Knowledge of engineered components, their applications, and how they perform across diverse product platforms. Understanding component performance, durability, and life requirements in heavy equipment or industrial applications.

Technical Excellence: Strong technical foundation in component engineering, with the ability to lead and support a team in developing solutions to significant technical challenges.

Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies, combined with technical expertise, to drive team understanding and ownership of product line strategy and solutions.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Team Management: Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques, combined with strong technical fundamentals, to identify root causes of issues affecting testing, production, and field performance.

Product Design and Development: Understanding component design requirements, manufacturing processes and constraints, and realistic timelines for development and production of new parts.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Basic understanding of Dynamic Seal types, functionality, and applications
  • The ability to foster a positive work environment, through coaching and guiding team members
  • Creo experience
  • Strong time management skills to balance lab priorities
  • Experience in drivetrain applications

Additional Information:

  • This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the Mossville, IL office.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
  • Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position.
  • This position may require up to 5% travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
