Salary: $95,000 - $105,000

Job Summary:

Responsible for the supervision of the Engineering Team and it's interactions within the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Supports new business implementation by participation in NPI, FAI, FMEA activities. Provides technical procedures & critical process controls for implementation of projects.
      • Acquires & reviews proposals from outside vendors with the appropriate personnel, regarding the purchase of new or modernization of production / processing / plant equipment
      • Performs a variety of engineering assignments in determining, developing and implementing production / change-over / set-up / processing methods and controls to meet quality, environmental & health and safety standards in the most cost-efficient manner. Leads the start-up and de-bugging of new processes; training of production personnel, sets standards for the process and development of standard operating procedures
      • Troubleshoots production equipment and processes in conjunction with the operators whenever problems occur
      • Prepares set-ups, plant layouts & operating procedures for manufacturing processes
      • Coordinates pre-production trials with production & project teams. Obtains process potential studies, run rates and operating procedures
      • Responsible for the planning and execution of the preventive and corrective maintenance plan of the manufacturing fixtures
      • Ensures machine calibration routines are appropriate and critical data is retained
      • Ensures resources are available to incorporate support activities into the production schedule for all engineering activities
      • Responds with urgency to quality issues in diagnosing root cause and developing corrective actions to troubleshoot manufacturing processes
      • Provide support for quoting new business with respect to manufacturing processes, cycle times, and non-reoccurring costs
      • Work within QMS procedures and policies. Establish and improve engineering procedures and standards within engineering
      • Ensure Kaizen activities are supported as per plan
      • Ensures that metrics are in place and are being used to improve processes and performance of areas critical to the success of the engineering side of the business
      • Co-ordinates with other departments and focus teams to improve upon production efficiencies, etc.
      • Work with cutting tool suppliers to improve tool life and performance
      • Other duties and projects as assigned

Skills/ Knowledge Requirements:
      • Post-secondary degree or diploma in engineering or equivalent field an asset.
      • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment demonstrating leadership
      • Problem solver, excellent communicator, attention to detail
      • Liaison with Shop Floor personnel to provide support
      • Able to work independently and as a team member
      • Strong communication skills including written and verbal
      • Strong problem solving and project management skills
      • Excellent computer skills in CNC programming, CAD, Microsoft Office applications
      • Sound judgment in decision making and establishing priorities
      • Proactive and oriented to make improvements in systems and procedures.
      • Excellent interpersonal/teamwork skills.
      • Ability to travel for business needs.
      • Thoroughness in work, ask questions, stand behind decisions


Supervisory Responsibilities/ Direction of Others:
      • Engineering Department / directs engineering team members.
      • Ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of processes.
      • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate quick and effective improvements.
      • Executes business plans to achieve key performance indicators.
      • Ensures meetings i.e., communications, safety, and team meetings are held effectively as per timelines.
      • Conducts performance appraisals for direct reports and mentor areas for improvement.
      • Provides strong and consistent leadership to increase motivation, skill and knowledge of all employees.
      • Provides daily, weekly, and monthly departmental reports as required.
      • Demonstrates an understanding of the significant environmental impacts of work activities; follow work instructions to ensure positive environmental performance is sustained. Understand the consequences of delineating from them.
