POSITION SPECIFICS
We are searching for an experienced Engineering Project Manager to join our Project Management and Control Department/System and Engineering Capabilities Division at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. The primary purpose of this position is to assist Program Managers (PM) and Principal Investigators (PI) in the management of project/programs. The duties will encompass: the production and the end-to-end management of aspects of programs to include integrated master schedule, resource management, risk management, program and funding plans, coordinating program-wide communications between technical leads, resource managers and project engineers and compiling and reporting on technical and financial status internal (PM and PI) and external (program sponsors) to ARL.

You will:
Lead the production and management of project schedules and work breakdown plans. Coordinate schedules and resources by informing technical teams of work and evaluate technical progress on a recurring basis
Lead and facilitate the development of project budgets, ROMS, and proposal estimates in conjunction with the PM(s)/PI(s) and project’s financial manager
Manage project scope and budget and assessing and recommending resolutions to technical and resourcing issues
Work with PM/PI to develop and manage issue tracking (actions/risks) systems; developing metrics for reporting
Communicate program status and metrics with project sponsors; both in written report and presentations
Coordinate and manage the project management work and its requirements within the project and with project personnel
Prepare project reports, to include technical progress, risk, actions, and financial
Direct technical teams as needed in the creation of meaningful reports and documentation for distribution to internal and external to ARL
Required skills/experience areas include:
Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Financial systems
Past success collaborating in a multi-disciplinary team environment and at all levels of an organization.
Proven ability to provide quality results with minimal supervision
Proven ability writing reports to convey status and metrics to program sponsors
Effective at presenting to senior level audience
Preferred skills/experience areas include:
Developing and managing large integrated master schedules.
Project Management Professional (PMP) project management certification
Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required
Your working location can be hybrid on-site/work from home, project-dependent ability for hybrid work located in State College, PA. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree
6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $102,936.00 - $154,452.00.
