Position SummaryThe
Fluids Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and testing requirements related to hydraulic and transmission fluids - combination fluids, grease, gear lube, transmission and axle lubricants, engine oil, engine coolant, OAT engine coolant, brake fluids, biodiesel blend fuel, diesel fuel and conditioners to support different groups and product lines within the organization.
Key Responsibilities• As a subject matter expert, will be responsible to support and get involved with all fluid projects which comply with business objectives, as well as environmental requirements, along with identifying potential problems and suggested corrective measures, working across different departments and product lines within the company.
• Works with technical team members within Materials Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Product Engineering and Product Validation to support fluid development and testing activities.
• Responsible for determining required testing for all fluids used in company products, in accordance to national and internal corporate standards and test methods.
• Responsible for diagnosing root cause for fluid non-conformance and related failure, performs fluid testing and provides recommendations pointing towards non-conformance and improved performance.
• Responsible for analyzing fluid samples from test bench for cleanliness, fluid degradation under service/test condition and wear of mating components specially for driveline components for different products.
• Responsible to provide technical input for corporate fluid specification and fluid test methods.
• Responsible for approving and documenting new/changed fluid formulation for the company; which requires a thorough knowledge and understanding about key characteristics and components of fluids such as chemistry/recipe and production/blending process to capture and document necessary formulation for approval.
• Responsible for organizing and leading technical discussion on fluids through organized meeting with other departments within the company and with fluid suppliers.
• Work closely with company Compliance team to assure fluid compliance through updating or releasing new corporate material standards.
Experience Required• Bachelor's Degree in Science and/or Engineering with chemistry background or similar.
• 6+ years of experience in field of fluid development and/or processing with laboratory fluid analysis experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of internal customers at all levels within the company.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently with little supervision; demonstrate leadership by ability to own the project and take it to completion.
The ideal Candidate will have:• Knowledge and experience operating laboratory equipment for fluid analysis is required.
• Knowledge of national standards and procedures for fluid testing is required.
• Knowledge of application of materials and materials related processing for off-highway applications is preferred.
• Strong technical writing skills required.
• Strong and clear communication skill with ability to work with cross functional teams and people across different regions of the world is required.
• Should be able to lead technical discussion with clear objective and deliverables.
• Should be able to manage work independently with minimal supervision.
• Should be proficient with Microsoft office products.
Preferred Qualifications• Master's or PhD, Degree in Science and/or Engineering Highly Preferred.
Pay TransparencyThe annual salary for this role is $74,625 - $114,425 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
