Job Summary:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering team and ensuring that all key projects and engineering duties are executed effectively. This role involves addressing technical and operational challenges, overseeing capital projects, and ensuring that all engineering activities align with the company's safety, quality, and operational standards.

Job Responsibilities:
• Oversee the engineering team in completion of assigned engineering projects by developing, challenging and establishing clear expectations. Provide ongoing support and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Oversee the planning, design, and execution of capital projects, including equipment installations, facility upgrades, and new product lines. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all regulatory and safety standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts with the development of lean designs and layouts while optimizing efficiencies and reducing waste through optimized equipment and procedures. Identify new technologies and best practices in manufacturing and engineering.
• In conjunction with the EHS Manager ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including OSHA standards, food safety protocols, and company policies.
• Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that engineering solutions align with product safety and quality standards.
• Develop and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce utility consumption and operating costs. Manage the facility's environmental and sustainability programs, including water and waste management.
• Collaborate with senior management to develop and manage the engineering budget, including capital expenditures, maintenance costs, and resource allocation. Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
• Work closely with other departments, including production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to support overall business objectives.
• Collaborate with external partners, including equipment suppliers and engineering firms, to implement innovative solutions.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
• 7+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in the food and beverage industry, particularly in dairy or cheese production, is highly preferred.
• Proven experience with capital projects, maintenance management, and process improvement.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in a food production environment.
• Proficiency in CAD, PLCs, automation, and controls systems.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
• Working knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Ability to lead and develop a diverse engineering team.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to food safety and operational excellence.

Physical Requirements:
• The position may require some on-call availability and weekend work based on operational needs.
• Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to high temperatures, wet conditions, noise, and dairy allergens.
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and work in confined spaces.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and move between production areas and office spaces.
