What you will have an opportunity to do:

The Engineering Manager will support the Director of Engineering in overseeing the resort's physical plant and building systems while playing a key role in transitioning the property from renovation and construction into fully operational resort service.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineering Manager to join the leadership team of a prestigious 474-room luxury resort in Naples, Florida, preparing for an exciting reopening following extensive renovation.

This is a critical leadership opportunity for an engineering professional who thrives in a complex, high-volume luxury hospitality environment and is passionate about operational excellence, preventative maintenance, team development, and exceptional guest experiences.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with exceptional leadership, organization, communication, and hospitality skills.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader and hospitality professional who can move comfortably between the mechanical room, guest room, executive office, construction site, and resort leadership team.

You are highly organized, calm under pressure, technically capable, and passionate about developing people. You understand the urgency and complexity of reopening a large luxury resort and take pride in creating reliable systems that allow the operation to deliver exceptional guest experience.

  • Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support the Director of Engineering in developing and executing the property's engineering reopening plan.
  • Coordinate closely with ownership, General Management, renovation teams, contractors, consultants, vendors, and resort leadership.
  • Monitor and close engineering-related construction and renovation punch-list items.
  • Participate in commissioning, testing, inspection, and turnover of renovated systems and equipment.
  • Verify that all engineering systems are fully operational, reliable, safe, and guest-ready prior to reopening.
  • Review equipment manuals, warranties, as-built drawings, service contracts, and maintenance requirements.
  • Establish preventive maintenance programs and engineering operating procedures before reopening.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and development of the Engineering team.
  • Ensure appropriate tools, equipment, spare parts, uniforms, supplies, and inventory are available for opening.
  • Participate in mock operations, room inspections, emergency drills, and property readiness exercises.
  • Develop emergency response procedures and ensure the team is prepared for critical situations.
  • Assist in managing daily engineering and maintenance operations for the 474-room resort.
  • Maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, life-safety, water-treatment, pool, kitchen, laundry, elevator, and other property systems.
  • Monitor the operation and condition of guest rooms, suites, public areas, restaurants, meeting spaces, back-of-house areas, and resort amenities.
  • Ensure timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance work orders.
  • Establish and monitor preventive maintenance schedules and standards.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to engineering-related guest and operational concerns.
  • Maintain the highest standards of appearance, functionality, safety, and reliability throughout the property.
  • Coordinate planned shutdowns and disruptive maintenance to minimize impact on guests and operations.
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop Engineering team members.
  • Establish clear expectations for productivity, quality, safety, appearance, and guest service.
  • Create effective staffing schedules aligned with resort occupancy and operational demands.
  • Conduct inspections and provide regular feedback and performance coaching.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure engineering employees understand and follow safety procedures and property standards.
  • Coordinate outside contractors, service companies, consultants, and specialty trades.
  • Monitor contractor performance, quality of work, safety, and adherence to schedules.
  • Assist with negotiating and administering service agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records of warranties, inspections, service contracts, and equipment history.
  • Ensure all outside work meets resort standards and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Assist with the Engineering operating budget and departmental financial controls.
  • Monitor labor, supplies, repairs, maintenance expenses, and inventory.
  • Assist with capital expenditure planning and property improvement projects.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, improve efficiency, and extend equipment life.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory and equipment documentation

  • Guest rooms are comfortable, quiet, safe, and fully functional.
  • Public spaces and resort amenities are maintained to exceptional standards.
  • Temperature, lighting, water pressure, hot water, elevators, and other guest-facing systems perform consistently.
  • Engineering issues are addressed quickly and discreetly.
  • Preventive maintenance is proactive rather than reactive.
  • Maintenance activities are coordinated to minimize disruption to guests.
  • The Engineering team consistently demonstrates professionalism and a service-oriented attitude.


What are we looking for?
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering/facilities experience, preferably in luxury hotels or resorts.
  • Previous Engineering Manager, Assistant Director of Engineering, Chief Engineer, or comparable leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with a large luxury resort or hotel operation is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience with major renovation, reopening, conversion, or pre-opening is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, building systems, and life-safety systems.
  • Experience leading and developing a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and CMMS/work-order systems.
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Florida buildings, fire/life-safety, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively in a fast-paced resort environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and emergency situations when required.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Luxury, five-star, or five-diamond hospitality experience.
  • Experience with a resort of 400+ guestrooms.
  • Experience working through a significant hotel renovation and reopening.
  • Experience with central plant operations, chilled-water systems, building automation systems, generators, pools, water features, and complex resort infrastructure.
  • Experience with energy-management and sustainability initiatives.
  • Technical degree, engineering/facilities certification, or equivalent professional experience.

Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
