The Video Software Engineering team is looking for Engineering Managers to grow and develop our engineering talent and build inclusive, high-performing teams. Engineering Managers work closely and collaboratively with teams across Peacock technology to deliver high quality streaming service. Engineering Managers drive technical initiatives in partnership with senior engineers across multiple teams, including testing, resiliency a performance. What the team does • Collaborate with all Playback Services teams (Live/Linear, VOD, Video Player etc.) for Ad insertion on Peacock application • Building Applications and Automation for the NBCUniversal Ads team • Manage relationships between SSAI vendors • Owner of Ads encoding transcoding and delivery • Collaborates with teams building Peacock applications, ensuring optimal integration of the video players Roles & Responsibilities • Build and lead inclusive, high-performing engineering teams to design, build, develop, enhance, and maintain scalable, high quality and high-performance applications and workflows. • Work closely and collaboratively with teams across Peacock technology such as Engineering/Product/Project Management and Backend Technology Services teams to build highly scalable/reliable video infrastructure, including various configurations, routing policies/tools, and services to deliver high quality streaming service and manage video workflows. • Analyze business requirement to design and develop software applications to support business. Meet regularly with product and business owners and work to solve complex problems by provide advanced technical solutions. • Actively participate in designing and architecting solutions, oversee the development and software unit testing procedures and validations. Also supervise database designing, development, queries, stored procedures, database triggers and its maintenance. • Develop software solutions based on operations; collaborate and confer with colleagues, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas, following the software development lifecycle. • Experience in implementation of video streaming in MPEG-DASH, HLS and associated delivery and encryption technologies as well as experience in various software technologies and tools like GoLang, JavaScript, AngularJS, React, MongoDB, cloud services etc. as well we different incident management tools. • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, technical program design and specification documents, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code • Make sure all systems are properly unit and system integration tested and all the defects are documented, fixed, and delivered on time adhering to the SDLC processes • Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming • Deliver on product roadmaps, reports, status incrementally with a high level of quality • Drive technical initiatives in partnership with senior engineers across multiple teams, including testing. • Constantly search for improvements in the software applications by enhancing the existing applications with new features and continuously identifying and resolving defects. • Grow the team by attracting diverse talent that can push technical boundaries and where individuals recognise that team success is more important than individual success. • Support, coach and develop high performing engineers through regular 1:1s, continuous feedback and relationships with others • Mentor individuals to embrace diversity and help building an inclusive and flexible workplace Qualifications • 5+ years of prior software development experience at senior level • Understanding of how a high performing team of engineers looks like • Understanding of deadlines, constraints and scope of delivery and experience working with the business partners to ensure the right balance between these are met, setting expectations and handling risks early • Ability to integrate into a large agile development project and manage rapid development cycles • Being an analytic problem solver with a strong sense of autonomy, but with an open collaborative approach to getting the job done. • Interest in promoting an inclusive team culture where engineers of diverse backgrounds can grow • Committed to quality in every assignment, large or small • Transparency, selflessness, and authenticity Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
