Full Job Description
The Engineering Manager provides the engineering department's overall technical leadership to plan, execute, and manage all internal, external and customer requirements to ensure all safety, quality, delivery, and cost requirements are met. Supports all organization objectives by developing goals and strategies. Support all RFQs and communication per assigned customer.

Responsibilities and Duties Required
  • Champion and fully support integration of customers quality flow down requirements.
  • Partner and collaborate with technical engineers, project engineers, manufacturing engineers, CNC programmers, estimators, and shop floor employees to ensure program goals, requirements, and needs are understood and achieved.
  • Monitor project plans and execution to ensure technical and work scope requirements, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained.
  • Ensure engineering efforts are planned and executed in accordance with company policies, procedures, processes, and best practices.
  • Provide the coordination between the engineering team, functional managers, and product line supervisor, to ensure all necessary reviews are conducted and approvals are received.
  • Assure and verify compliance of manufacturing methods as defined on customer purchase order, drawings, and specifications requirements.
  • Approve new and revise customer purchase orders during the purchase order review and validate compliance.
  • Collaborate with other management personnel to develop and maintain new products and design change milestones.
  • Manage and prioritize tooling and program requests to appropriate CNC programmers and manufacturing engineers.
  • Review and approve all BOM's, manufacturing routers, fixtures designs and CNC programs.
  • Lead efforts pertaining to customer product reviews to include production readiness reviews when applicable.
  • Responsible to ensure First Article and Production Process Approval tasks are completed and approvals are obtained for deliverable products as applicable.
  • Reviews and approves all estimators quotes for accuracy and compliance to customers flow down requirements.
  • Review and disposition product repairs, reworks, and MRB's.
  • Investigate and oversee root cause and corrective actions on assigned programs.
  • Lead efforts pertaining to customer escapes utilizing all other engineering members to ensure accurate data is quickly available for review by the Quality Manager.
  • Participate in assigned customer communication pertaining to technical, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Recommend safety and ergonomic improvements in our material handling devices, manufacturing tools, and workstations to accommodate best practices for shop floor personnel.
  • Participate in discussions with customers and suppliers as required.
  • Occasional traveling to customers and supply chain may be required.
  • Build our relationship and partnership with assigned customers to grow our business and sales according to management's business plan.
  • Support all internal and external audits.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Minimum 2 years leading Engineering efforts on the Department of Defense (DoD) programs.

Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • PMP certified preferred (Project Management Professional)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing and/or cost estimating.
  • Must have working knowledge of the CAD/CAM system use, shop mathematics, sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, inspection methods, and coatings.
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office products, including Project.
  • Proficient in guiding and mentoring team members.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate and read English proficiently.

Job, Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift, move, transport and load items across the building up to 50 pounds at times.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position and constantly re-position self to perform required tasks.
  • Constantly operate machinery required for this job.
  • May be required to work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • May be exposed to physical hazards from moving equipment, heavy equipment, and machine parts.
  • Specific coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of equipment.
  • May work in close proximity to others.
