About the team + role

The Credit Cards & Banking team is part of Robinhood's Money Engineering organization. This team builds the products and systems behind some of Robinhood's most ambitious consumer experiences, including Robinhood Gold Credit Card, Banking, and the next generation of card and banking products.

This is a high-impact engineering leadership role at the intersection of product innovation, scale, and reliability. Our team owns the full customer experience end to end-from mobile and frontend surfaces to backend systems and the infrastructure that powers them. We work on products used by millions, in a space where execution quality, technical rigor, and customer trust matter deeply.

As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead a team of engineers building category-defining credit card and banking experiences. You'll partner closely with product, design, data, compliance, operations, and peer engineering teams to define the roadmap, make sound technical decisions, and deliver exceptional products at scale. You'll also play a central role in hiring, coaching, and developing a high-performing team.

We're looking for bold thinkers, sharp problem-solvers, and leaders who want to help build the future of money.

This role is based in our Menlo Park Ca, New York, NY, or Bellevue, WA office(s), with in-person attendance expected 5 days per week.

At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.
What you'll do
  • Lead, grow, and support a team of software engineers working on Robinhood's Credit Cards & Banking product area
  • Set clear direction for the team across execution, technical design, and people development
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to define roadmaps and deliver high-impact customer experiences
  • Drive the architecture, execution, and operational excellence needed to build reliable, scalable card and banking systems
  • Guide engineering decisions across product surfaces, backend services, and platform dependencies
  • Improve team health and effectiveness through strong planning, prioritization, feedback, and career development
  • Hire exceptional engineers and raise the bar on talent, performance, and engineering craftsmanship
  • Help the team move quickly while maintaining high standards for quality, reliability, and customer trust
What you bring
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams
  • Experience leading teams that build and ship customer-facing products at scale
  • Strong technical judgment and the ability to partner closely on architecture, tradeoffs, and execution
  • Experience working on complex distributed systems, backend services, or full-stack consumer products
  • A track record of driving cross-functional initiatives from concept through launch
  • Experience coaching and developing engineers through regular feedback, performance management, and career growth
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical partner
  • A high bar for execution, product quality, and building strong teams
Leadership expectations

Our ambitious roadmap requires strong leaders who can build both exceptional products and exceptional teams. We're looking for someone who can:
  • Drive high performance through clear goals, strong accountability, and fast learning
  • Hire and retain top talent by setting a high bar and investing deeply in team development
  • Create clarity in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • Build trust across functions and keep teams aligned around customer and business impact
  • Raise the quality of both technical execution and people leadership
Bonus points
  • Experience in fintech, banking, credit cards, payments, lending, or other highly regulated domains
  • Experience leading teams through periods of rapid growth, product expansion, or platform scaling
  • Experience building mobile-first or consumer app experiences
  • Familiarity with modern backend and data systems in high-availability environments
What we offer
  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career.
  • Performance-driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, equity ownership, and 401(k) matching.
  • Best-in-class benefits to fuel your work, including 100% paid health insurance for employees with 90% coverage for dependents.
  • Lifestyle wallet - a highly flexible benefits spending account for wellness, learning, and more.
  • Employer-paid life & disability insurance, fertility benefits, and mental health benefits.
