JOB DESCRIPTION

The Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating assigned projects to ensure objectives are met within established timelines and budgets. This includes leading internal and external project review meetings, maintaining key program documentation, facilitating customer communication, managing and publishing open issues, and developing and tracking project schedules. The role also provides first0level resolution of project0related issues and ensures compliance with all audit requirements, for both Internally & Externally.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Project & Program Management

  • Review project proposals to determine scope, timing, resource needs, and budget requirements.
  • Maintain and communicate the SDT open issues list; identify and track key program issues.
  • Review status reports, adjust project plans as needed, and prepare reports for management and customers.
  • Oversee plant engineering activities, including new product introductions and product launch efforts.
  • Maintain and improve key metrics for engineering departments and report monthly to management teams
  • Ensure adherence to PCR, ER, and other required documentation processes.
  • Participate and/or Lead Continuous Improvement activities for the plant

Manufacturing & Engineering Support

  • Support setup and maintenance of production tooling and equipment.
  • Participate in plant objective setting, planning, and performance reviews.
  • Guide the design / development / implementation of new product lines and overall product strategy.
  • Formulate, administrate, and coordinate Engineering activities to improve plant performance and reduce waste and delay.
  • Promote cost reduction
  • Establish / maintain/ improve processes
  • Select and train personnel

Engineering Leadership

  • Manage and implement the plant maintenance program using automotive best practices.
  • Leading and developing teams for Manufacturing and Controls Engineering
  • Develop plans / methods /controls with manufacturing and quality to insure proper quality standards, Including Error Proofing
  • Ensure creation and maintenance of Process FMEAs and related work instructions. Process Books, ODS, EIS, process flow diagrams
  • Lead & develop Maintenance Teams and Oversee Maintenance KPIs.
  • Analyze data and provide recommendations to improve plant operations and solve maintenance-related issues.
  • Continuously review plant equipment conditions to reduce downtime and identify improvement opportunities.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Participate in Health/Safety/Environmental investigations and the 8D process to support root cause analysis.
  • Ensure completion of required safety audits for self and team.
  • Enforce safe work procedures and compliance with plant safety standards.
  • Support Job Safety Analysis and contribute to achieving plant safety goals.
  • Exercise authority to stop production if a safety or quality concern is identified.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 5-10 Years of Strong Manufacturing Engineering Experience. Automotive J-I-T Sequencing Preferred.
  • 5 Years of Managerial Experience
  • Good Electrical working knowledge of Allen Bradley or Siemens, & Controls Systems in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Strong Continuous Improvement Management (Six Sigma & Kaizen)
