Position Overview

As The Director of Engineering, you will report directly to the SVP GM of the Power Components Division and be responsible for driving innovation, sustaining engineering, and cost optimization across a diverse product portfolio including circuit breakers, vacuum interrupters, trip units, meters, relays, thermal sensing, and firmware. You will have an opportunity to lead a global organization of 200+ members through 6 direct reports impacting a $1 B Revenue business. As part of the divisional leadership team, you will play a critical role in creating strategic vision for the division and advancing Eaton's capabilities in support of our key customers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering functions across the division ensuring capability alignment to meet business objectives. Attracts and retains a talented, diverse engineering team.
  • Partner with product management to set the product roadmap and waterline strategy to grow the business with winning new products and technologies.
  • Partners with VP of Engineering to maintain/refine a 5-year technology roadmap and continuously improve and standardize the Eaton Business System engineering elements across product lines.
  • Sustain all product lines overseeing Product Line Support (PLS) teams in plants.
  • Collaborate cross functionally and with customers/suppliers, to ensure smooth introduction of new products, materials, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Champion changing technologies and best practices, with a focus on Energy Transition trends, IoT/digital technology, power electronics, codes/standards for electrical safety and additive manufacturing.
  • Partner with the Program Management function to execute project schedules incorporating resource management, milestone deliverables, and administration of Prelaunch and PROLaunch projects.
  • Develop and oversee advanced technology programs with Eaton Research Labs.
  • Coordinate work across global engineering locations for PCD in Pittsburgh, PA; Beaver, PA; Horseheads, NY; Belmont, NC; Arecibo P.R.; Santo Domingo, D.R.; Haina, D.R.; Pune, India.
  • Manage R&D expense and Capital spending for the division.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, Master/ MBA Preferred.
  • 15+ years of product engineering experience with a focus on new product development, with 7 + years of people leadership
  • Proven experience in power distribution, UL and IEC safety standards.
  • Understanding of the Electrical Power Distribution market, regulatory influences, the competitive landscape, and broader context of the business strategy
  • Proficiency in software, cloud, firmware, electronics and application development.
  • Experience with product liability and product patent matters.
  • Proven track record of building organizational capability and talent.
  • Knowledge of current engineering techniques, practices, and engineering standards

The expected annual salary range for this role is $198,749.97 - $291,499.96. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
