Full Job Description
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department including, but not limited to, preventative maintenance, training, trouble calls and budgeting. Will be in charge of a state-of-the-art full service premier resort. They will be the most technically sound person in the department with solid communication and proven organizational skills. Administrative duties will include: documentation protocols for all plant equipment, organizing and prioritizing work, operating "KnowCross," building automation system, and lighting control systems. This person will also be responsible for professional development and establishing and improving operating protocols and procedures. Must be well versed in all technical areas of engineering, be firm yet have the genuine desire to help others, and be a proven leader/role model who conducts business with a high sense of honesty and integrity. Must have a "can-do" attitude with self-driven initiative and the desire to do things right the first time to be able to assess, prioritize and organize while maintaining attention to detail. Must be focused on goal accomplishments and timely completion. Communication skills are open, articulate, constructive and effective.

STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  • 3-5 years in a leadership role as a Facilities Engineer, preferably in a similar (hospitality, lodging, food service, spa) environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of boiler and gas systems.
  • Strong knowledge of hydronic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of package A/C systems and refrigeration.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills in HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Must be a "certified pool operator" by the National Swimming Pool Foundation.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Word, Excel, KnowCross (or similar), and building automation systems.
  • Proven "Change Manager" able to recognize and develop systems and processes to improve department effectiveness.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to delegate successfully.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other departments to schedule work.
  • Ability to keep all departments apprised of work progress.
  • Ability to supervise skilled employees.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively train, coach, and counsel skilled employees to success. Capable of developing all staff members' professionalism to set and attain standards of excellence through personal and team development.
  • Ability to foresee future problems and implement strong preventative maintenance program.
  • Ability to remain calm, cool, and levelheaded in an emergency or high-pressure situation.
  • Ability to ensure safety measures are used effectively.
  • Must have valid drivers license.


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of hotel law.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation.
  • CPR/First Aid qualified.
  • Knowledge and ability to execute an emergency plan.
  • Prior guest relations training.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) language skills to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural workforce.
  • License or certification in a trade.
  • Knowledge of Johnson Controls Systems.
