Role Overview

We are seeking a Experienced Engineering Desense Manager, RF & Wireless Technologies to lead GM's RF desense and coexistence function across multiple vehicle programs and product platforms. This role provides technical and people leadership for RF coexistence, architecture execution, and validation, while helping scale GM's internal RF design capability in alignment with agile vehicle development practices.

This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical authority, team leadership, and program accountability, working closely with cross-functional partners and suppliers to deliver robust, production-ready RF solutions.

Key Responsibilities

People & Functional Leadership
  • Lead and develop a high-performing RF Desense & Coexistence engineering team, including senior engineers and technical leaders
  • Set technical priorities, execution plans, and workload alignment across multiple vehicle programs
  • Drive hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and performance development within the RF Desense & Coex function
  • Build depth in RF system knowledge across the team and influence best practices beyond the immediate organization


RF Architecture & System Ownership
  • Own RF desense and coexistence performance across assigned vehicle platforms and products
  • Lead multi-radio coexistence efforts across LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/BLE, GNSS, UWB, and V2X
  • Define RF system budgets, performance targets, and mitigation strategies at the vehicle level
  • Drive early identification of desense risks through architecture reviews, simulations, and design assessments


In-House Design (IHD) & Agile Execution
  • Support GM's in-house hardware design strategy by embedding RF expertise early in system architecture, PCB design, and integration activities
  • Enable faster development cycles by connecting simulation, lab debug, and vehicle validation within agile execution models
  • Establish RF design guidelines and reusable methodologies to accelerate in-house development and reduce late-stage issues
  • Partner with software and systems teams to support evolving software-defined vehicle architectures
  • Partner with hardware, software, mechanical, thermal, EMI/EMC, and vehicle integration teams to resolve system trade-offs
  • Serve as the RF desense/coexistence technical lead in program reviews, risk assessments, and escalation forums
  • Define RF requirements, review designs, and ensure mitigation effectiveness across the supply base
  • Lead supplier technical reviews, issue resolution, and corrective action plans related to RF performance


Validation, Compliance & Debug Leadership
  • Define and execute RF validation strategies including sensitivity, throughput, and coexistence testing
  • Support EMC and regulatory compliance activities (FCC, CE, OEM standards, carrier certification)
  • Lead complex desense debug efforts involving CPUs, power systems, displays, memory, and vehicle networks
  • Establish structured debug methodologies and knowledge capture for reuse across programs


Required Qualifications
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of RF engineering experience, including:
    • 5+ years in RF desense and coexistence
    • Demonstrated experience leading engineers or technical teams
  • Strong expertise in RF interference mechanisms, mitigation techniques, and system-level trade-offs
  • Experience with RF simulation tools (CST, HFSS, FEKO)
  • Experience with RF test equipment (UXM, CMX, MT8000A, CMW500, OTA chambers)
  • Proven ability to deliver RF solutions through production in a cross-functional environment


Preferred Experience
  • Automotive RF systems (infotainment, telematics, connected vehicle platforms)
  • EMI/EMC integration and vehicle-level validation
  • Experience working in or supporting in-house hardware design organizations
  • Familiarity with agile or hybrid hardware-software development models


Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate.
• The salary range for this role is 159,400 to 245,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
• Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
