Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Stress Analysis: Perform detailed stress analysis to flight-critical structural components. Recommend limit and ultimate test loads for qualification testing based on stress analysis. Recommend design improvements to meet qualification test limit and ultimate loads.
Dynamic/Vibration Analysis: Perform dynamic and vibration analysis to determine the optimum system parameters. Evaluate performance and recommend characteristics (such as dynamic spring rate, life, modes, damping, deflections, etc.).
Fatigue Analysis: Calculate cumulative fatigue damage for the structural components. Develop fatigue test load spectrums for the qualification test.
Damage Tolerance Analysis: Perform fracture mechanics analysis to determine the structural integrity in the presence of an initial flaw.
Perform FEA (finite element analysis) to design structural and resilient elements to meet specifications (such and static spring rates, deflections, design life, etc.).
Prepare analysis reports to be submitted to customers or FAA for aircraft certification purposes. Review and check analytical results and reports by others to satisfy the established criteria.
Develop special purpose computer programs and maintain the in-house software. Work with engineering, quality and manufacturing staff to prepare MRB (Material Review Board) report justifying discrepancies in the manufactured parts.
Provide analytical support to design engineers in area of structural integrity material selection. Is a mentor to Analysts or interns and may have supervisory responsibilities for Analyst or Engineering Interns.
Participate preparing technical proposals. Participate in design reviews. Report and present analytical findings to staff and customers.
Perform data analysis of vibration and noise test data.
