Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an RCS Project Engineer to support Airframe and Structures development projects at General Atomics-ASI. This engineering position supports the development of integrated material solutions for aircraft structures as a Survivability/Low Observable Integration Project Engineer in the Advanced Aircraft Engineering (AAE) organization. In a Project Engineering capacity, you will be a part of a team that focuses on organizing and coordinating all phases of Survivability Integration and Airframe/Structures sub-system projects from requirements definition to conceptualization through flight test.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Low Observable Product Development/Integration Project Leadership
  • Lead project(s) of moderate size for the Survivability Integration and Airframe/Structures Sub-Systems
  • Facilitate and coordinate interdependent job functions within the Survivability and Airframe IPTs (Survivability, Structural Design, Loads Development, Structural Analysis, Materials and Processes, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Specialized Tooling activities)
  • Manage the Development/Derivation of Requirements, Internal Statement of Work, and Basis of Estimates.
  • Manage technical support for suppliers via development/compilation of Supplier SOW's and Technical Data Packages, and technical coordination, risk management, and issue resolution.
  • Working through engagements with functional leadership, build the team to execute the project.
  • Develop, communicate, and facilitate the execution of project priorities and goals
  • Develop Project Tactical Execution Plans with buy in from SME's
  • Align with Program Integrated master schedule
  • Manage/Throttle Project Scope and Budget.
  • Lead Development Activities thought Product Manufacturing Operations/Transition to Production
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Work Centers, Program Management, and Supplier Management for Make/Buy decisions
  • Facilitate Transition to Production and flow of design data to manufacturing
  • Coordinate Design For Manufacturing and Assembly
  • Specialized Tooling Design Requirements Coordination with Manufacturing
  • Coordination of Engineering/Liaison Support for Product Build and Qualification Testing
  • Interacts with internal and external engineering and project/program staff at various levels concerning resolution of technical/requirements issues.
  • Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
  • May represent the Advanced Aircraft Engineering Department in communicating/resolving technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals.
  • Must have Survivability experience with a focus in Survivability design, integration, sustainment, and/or production.
  • Strong knowledge of low observables and RCS performance
  • Strong knowledge of low observable materials and processes
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Active Special Program Access (SAP) preferred.
