Job Summary

As a leader in the Propulsion Systems Team, you will have the opportunity to lead design and test efforts of a wide array of innovative propulsion system solutions that directly impact the success of our customers. At GA-ASI, we highly value new ideas, creativity, and fresh thinking, as we continue to lead the industry in unmanned aerial systems.

In this role you would lead, empower, and help technically guide a team of engineers and engineering designers to define and execute creative solutions to engaging engineering challenges in a wide array of propulsion related products and systems. These include, but are not limited to, various engine installations, core diesel engine design, gearbox systems, fuel systems, oil systems, and propeller control systems. Functioning in a technical and leadership role, you will have the opportunity to plan, execute, and lead innovative projects and supervise a team of direct reports, to meet a wide array of customer goals and requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • This position typically reports to a technical manager and is responsible for the planning, managing and technical performance of one or more engineering unit(s).
  • Support and/or lead the design, analysis, testing, integration, manufacturing, and fielding of various types of aircraft propulsion systems, including piston engines, turbine engines, propellers, fuel systems, oil systems, and related components.
  • Lead all phases of assigned engineering project(s) from inception through completion.
  • Generate, present and/or review engineering documentation for delivery to peers, technical staff, technical management, and customers.
  • Troubleshoot various propulsion-related systems including piston and turbine engines, engine control systems, fuel systems, oil systems, propellers, and related components.
  • Participate in and coordinate the establishment of design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, testing, and integration.
  • Interact with internal and external representatives at various levels concerning resolution of technical and scheduling issues.
  • Ensure technical excellence is maintained by participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required professional, and technical talent.
  • Identify project issues and assist leadership in developing solutions such as re-allocation of resources or modifying contract specifications.
  • Assist in the development of and ensure the security of the unit's proprietary technology, and maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.


Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • A mechanical background with an interest in aircraft is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance is required.
