Engineer/Technologist

Intertek is searching for an Engineer/Technologist to join our Intertek team in our Coquitlam, BC office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Modular Housing!

The Engineer/Technologist is responsible for .

What you'll do:
  • Provide technical support to sales team to determine the scope of new projects and develop pricing estimates and project timelines
  • Conduct drawing reviews and approvals on factory-built residential, commercial and industrial structures in accordance with applicable North American Building Codes.
  • Perform engineering evaluations to determine conformity of construction products to applicable North American Building Codes.
  • Visit manufacturing facilities to conduct plant Quality Control Audits and Technical Inspection of modular buildings in fabrication
  • Create and review Factory Audit Manuals, aligned with current client Quality Control Programs.
  • Assemble and review Certification Listing Reports based on Quality Control and Technical information gathered during the audits and inspections.
  • Conduct code evaluation of engineered building products, and reviews of production processes.
  • Coordinate and setting up initial and subsequent evaluations and inspections for assigned project managers
  • Coordinate inspection schedules for assigned project managers and contractors
  • Attend technical or industry association meetings.
  • Travel to various client sites in North America, may also involve some overseas travel


What it takes to be successful in this role:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Electrical Engineering or related technical degree/diploma (post-secondary school training in Building Technology at a recognized vocational institute)
  • Preference will be given to candidate with 10+ years of experience related to building construction, and/or design of residential and commercial site built and/or factory-built structures, or as a building official, supplemented by some experience as a construction foreman, superintendent, or contractor
  • Understanding of Canadian and/or US building codes, standards, and construction methods.
  • Currently registered as a P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia). Technologist designation from AScT from Applied Science Technologist and Technician of British Colombia.


Salary & Benefits Information

The potential salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 per year. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
