RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: No relocation assistance available CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR START: No CLEARANCE TYPE: None TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the Time Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has openings for a Tooling Engineer/Principal Tooling Engineer Level 2/3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in St. Augustine, FL. This position will support the A Shift: Monday – Thursday, 6:00AM – 4:.30 PM (4x10) Primary Responsibilities: • Manages and supports integration of new tooling from design through sustainment • Supervises and supports critical production builds involving technical tooling processes • Provides communication to Integrated Product Team (IPT) leaders regarding cost and schedule including escalation of any technical issues. • Works intimately with Manufacturing engineering to deliver tools that meet product build requirements. • Recommends and often leads continuous improvement activities to support cost savings and cost avoidance targets. • Manages external Tooling Design/Fabrication Shops on Design/Build projects • Proofs tooling upon receipt in a production environment • Uses Microsoft applications to communicate and present tooling progress Secondary Responsibilities: • Supports the tool design group with design projects and tasks which include 3D modeling, 2D drafting and checking • Concepts and designs special tooling within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure • Uses and/or manages Computer Aided Design (CAD) resources for tooling design (primarily NX) • Witnesses/approves source inspection of special tooling at supplier locations before acceptance • Provides tooling cost/schedule estimates for new tools and or tooling modifications Our team enjoys a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaboration with internal and external customers.  We work closely with manufacturing engineers, CAD designers, safety, and operations.  We pride ourselves in coming up with new ways to provide tooling that is safe, cost effective, and operationally efficient. This role may be filled at the Tooling Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Tooling Engineer (Level 3) based on the qualifications outlined below. Basic Qualifications: Tooling Engineer (Level 2) • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the business • Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 1 years of relevant engineering experience; or Masters Degree in STEM discipline and 0 years of engineering experience • Experience in design, fabrication and implementation of tooling used in the manufacture of composite parts • Experience in project management and communication skills • Experience with general metallic fabrication including welding and machining • Experience with 3D CAD systems Principal Tooling Engineer (Level 3) • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the business • Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 4 years  relevant engineering experience; or Masters Degree in STEM and 3 years' engineering experience; or PhD and 0 years of engineering experience • Experience in design, fabrication and implementation of tooling used in the manufacture of composite parts • Experience in project management and communication skills • Experience with general metallic fabrication including welding and machining • Experience with 3D CAD systems Preferred Qualifications: • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering • Active U.S. Government Clearance • Experience in a manufacturing environment • Experience with tooling for composites manufacturing and handling • Experience in design of molds, machining fixtures, handling, and assembly tools for composite manufacturing Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
