Engineer IV Posting Start Date: 8/27/26 Job Location (Short): Peoria, Illinois, USA, 61639 Requisition ID: 36810 Onsite or Remote: Onsite Position Job Overview Analyze mechanical components, structures, and systems in concept, design, or hardware stages to ensure adequate performance for the intended function. Recommend and evaluate design modifications to solve product reliability issues, improve performance, and add value. Participate in the development of advanced analytical methods and techniques utilizing state-of-the-art technology. Perform in engineer projects to develop, maintain and support components, products and/or services per market demands, and for continual process improvements. Perform or conduct engineering evaluations including investigations, fundamental calculations, and tests that have well defined requirements and desired outcomes. Provide conceptual and strategic solutions to solve problems associated with engineering projects or evaluations. Key Job Responsibilities 3 Perform analysis on new and existing designs, which: 1) reduces number of prototypes; 2) improves product quality; and 3) reduces warranty expenses for mining equipment, sales of which typically exceed $1B per year. 3 Plan and execute 10+ analysis projects per year and deliver comprehensive technical data reports. 3 Provide advice, guidance, and support in area of design analysis for design and test engineers. 3 Participate in effective Change Management to achieve the desired organizational outcomes by successfully changing individual behaviors as needed. 3 Participate in and support programs for effective communication of engineering issues to ensure compliance with global standards for design and safety of products and services, as well as engineering best practices. 3 Participate in and support improvements to streamline engineering processes used to design, develop, maintain and support components, products, and/or services. 3 Take responsibility for one's own learning and development for the mutual benefit of one's self and the organization. Qualifications/Requirements Required Skills 3 Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant discipline, required. 3 Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering, design, machine application, required. 3 Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering structural analysis, using tools such as Ansys Mechanical, Abaqus, Nastran, etc..., required. 3 Strong background in engineering calculations and fundamentals including strength of materials, closed-form calculations, free-body diagrams, fatigue theory, and engineering physics, required. 3 Interest in, and willingness to use Agentic AI other assistive technology, required. 3 Interest in, and willingness to learn Python, C++, or other coding languages, required. 3 Experience in cross-functional team assignment(s), required. Preferred Skills 3 Experience in hands-on and problem solving environments including: Laboratory, Prototype build, R&D, Test, home or farm workshop, and manufacturing, including: casting, machining, fabrication, and assembly, desired. 3 Experience in Ansys Workbench, Mechanical, MAPDL, Discovery, and the Ansys tool suite, desired. 3 Knowledge and experience with analyses utilizing non-linear materials and non-linear contact for Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS) simulation and analysis in support of ISO 3471 and similar laboratory testing, desired. 3 Knowledge of dynamic analysis utilizing MBD (ex. MSC ADAMS), desired. 3 Knowledge of testing and strain gage theory, application, and test design, desired. 3 Experience within the mining industry, desired. 3 Proficient in the use of Pro/E Creo, SolidWorks or other CAD tools, desired. 3 Participation in implementing Lean Engineering principles, desired. 3 Participation in effective Change Management implementation, desired. 3 Professional registration and/or membership in committees and/or technical societies, beneficial. Additional Information Hiring Range At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $110,000 - $140,000. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
