JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Opportunity

This position is based at our Ottawa office within the Point of Care division. We're empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including Chemistry, Electrolytes, Hematology, Blood Gases, Coagulation, Endocrinology, Cardiac Markers, Neurology, and Informatics. As the Engineer, Intermediate, you'll have the chance to support teams through CAPA/continuous improvement activities while ensuring organizational compliance.

What You'll Do
  • Participate and assist individuals or cross functional teams to complete non-conformance (NC) or corrective and preventive (CAPA) investigation documentation to meet APOC standards and quality & regulatory requirements.
  • Write, edit, or approve non-conformance (NC) or corrective and preventive action (CAPA) investigation documentation for complex product or process (system) issues.
  • Guide and coach quality decision making investigations and CAPAs.
  • Communicate technical and quality requirements pertaining to issues, root causes and corrective actions to your team, other leaders and others in the organization.
  • Deliver high-quality documentation and project plans on time.
  • Track and trend CAPA metric data and create presentations for management reviews.
  • Conduct CAPA process and other required training for new Abtraq (Abbott TrackWise for Quality) users.
  • Other tasks and duties as may be assigned.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering or a closely related discipline and have demonstrated academic success.
  • A minimum of two plus years of experience.
  • Familiarity with any of the following is an asset: ISO/FDA regulations, risk management/FMEA methods and root cause analysis (6M's/ 5 Why's).
  • Ability to review and assess CAPA investigations to ensure compliance with procedures, quality system requirements, and good scientific rationale; experience interpreting statistical analyses and metrics.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; able to deal effectively with people on all organizational levels and work in a team environment across departments.
  • Analytical skills, creativity, and innovative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to determine required analysis to make practical, objective decisions about the best solutions to problems.
  • Familiarity with GMP and LEAN Six Sigma manufacturing principles is an asset.
  • Enthusiasm and propensity to continuous learning and experimentation.
  • Resourcefulness, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.


The annual base salary for this position ranges from $68,250.00 to $100,100.00 CAD. The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
