JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Product Development Engineer III acts as team leader for medium to large scale projects with functional emphasis. Performs work that leads to new products or "game changing" product improvements, processes or systems with technical differentiation, and significant business contributions. Develops product strategies on based on experimental studies and/or new technologies. Develops a broader business perspective of customer needs and business profitability. Contributes significantly and leads discussions and decisions on overall project objectives with managers and other functional areas.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Focus is on leading large-scale projects/assignments and/or playing the key technical role in multiple projects/assignments requiring an exceptionally high level of unique expertise.
  • Collaborate with operations, external suppliers, manufacturing, quality, service, packaging engineering, and materials engineering.
  • Fully develops multiple concepts related to satisfying a customer need and supports all viable solutions to arrive at an optimal solution for customers and the corporation while partnering internally and externally to commercialize.
  • Develops and presents reports summarizing technical analysis and business case to peer group and management audiences.
  • Effectively communicates with all levels of internal and external customers and staff. Independent presentations to the executive level.
  • Analyzes and recommends engineering or design solutions for product, process, design, or other technical challenges.
  • Capable of leading cross-functional teams having broader, less-defined initial objective and scope.
  • Ability to utilize mechanical design analysis tools and develop test plans to quickly problem solve.


MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 10 to 15 years of related mechanical design experience
  • Experienced with 3D CAD modeling package
  • Experience as design or project lead of a cross functional engineering team
  • Well-developed project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to design experimentation, analyze results and draw conclusions
  • Strong people skills, able to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Quick learner with high level of ambition and drive


NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possesses distinguished level of knowledge often acquired by completing advanced academic degree or equivalent specialized training
  • 2D and 3D CAD experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent software
  • Experience working through a gated design review process
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, drawing, and quality standards
  • Demonstrated ability with dimensional engineering and tolerance/variation analysis
  • Experience designing and developing new parts using injection molding, aluminum and vinyl extrusion, machining, or die cast processes
  • Effective technical presentation and communication skills


PAY RANGE:
$91,059.00 - $141,141.00

PROFIT SHARING: In 2026 Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $3,600 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit Sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
