Description

Scope of Responsibility:

This position performs the structural design of new towers, foundations and antenna mounts; and the structural analysis of existing towers, foundations and antenna mounts. Prepares reports and seals them as the Professional Engineer of record. Develops engineering spreadsheets to make department procedures more efficient. Assists in the training of other engineers as needed.

Essential Duties:
  • Designs new towers to meet Building Code requirements
  • Designs foundations based on soil information received
  • Analyzes existing towers, foundations and antenna mounts for revised loading and determines required modifications if needed
  • Completes structural modification designs
  • Applies structural engineering principles (steel, concrete, and soils) to designs
  • Provides detailed calculations to verify computer-generated results, when necessary
  • Provides technical advice to Program Managers and field personnel regarding on-site concerns
  • Works with other in-house Professional Engineers as needed, to develop engineering skills
  • Helps educate any Engineer I staff
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned
  • Report for work on time and fulfill your shift responsibilities as planned.
  • Complete all responsibilities during your assigned shift as outlined in the schedule.

Position Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is required

Experience: 3 to 7 years as a licensed Professional Engineer

Skills & Abilities:
• Candidate must have the ability and desire to learn all the technical details of industry standards and apply them to engineering procedures in order to design safe and efficient structures.
• Must have professional and effective English communication skills for verbal and written correspondence.
• Team player, self-starter, results-oriented and organized with a strong attention to detail, able to multi-task and complete tasks within a timely manner
• Must have sound judgment regarding technical engineering situations and be able to make decisions confidently and effectively.
• Must have proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
• Regular and timely attendance is required

Physical Requirements:
  • This is an office position requiring the use of office equipment such as a computer, copier, phone, etc. most of the day.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of fingers, hands and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching
  • Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials
  • Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual
  • Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
  • Ability to use hand tools for light assembly/modification of test and prototype articles for third party or inhouse lab work.
