DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Engineer II, Electrical

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Engineering Manager, Electrical

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Engineer II, Electrical is responsible for developing and maintaining electromechanical system designs under the direction of a senior engineer or manager. They lead the development of subsystems in larger design efforts or the complete electrical system development in smaller projects. They provide technical direction to junior engineers, designers, and drafters. Provides engineering support to internal and external customers and performs other tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Functional & Technical Skills
  • Translate requirements into a system architecture and detailed design.
  • Design and integrate industrial automation and control systems including PLC controls, motor controls, and general machine controls.
  • Determine feasibility of modifying existing or designing new equipment considering costs, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Validate designs through analysis and testing

Operational Excellence
  • Coordinate own design efforts as well as other engineers and designers to meet production schedules and provide project task estimates and updates to project team.

Flex Work Eligible! This position qualifies for the Flexible Work Policy. Employees receive 30 work days annually to work from home! The initial amount of days is prorated for the first year based on start date.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BS in Electrical Engineering

Experience: 3+ years experience in developing and maintaining electromechanical system designs.

Licenses/Certifications: Obtain and maintain railroad safety training and credentials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of business software including MS Office suite.
  • Collaborate with others to clarify requirements and develop solutions.
  • Lead design reviews consisting of multi-disciplined and cross functional team members.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: MS in Electrical Engineering

Experience: 3+ years experience in the following:
    • 480VAC power generation and distribution
    • Engine/generator controls
    • Industrial automation and controls systems
    • Electrical traction systems (DC & AC)
    • Motor controls and variable speed drives
    • Directing individual engineers or designers

Licenses/Certifications: EIT

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge in Autodesk and ERP software

Compensation:

Loram determines compensation based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.

The pay range for this position is between $81,300-$121,800
