Job's mission

ASM is seeking a detail-oriented Engineer II, Configuration Engineering to support product structure management, configuration control, and product lifecycle execution across our semiconductor equipment portfolio.In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining product configurations, bill of materials (BOMs), and engineering changes that enable accurate manufacturing, order fulfillment, and customer delivery. You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Order Fulfillment, and Product Management teams to ensure product data accuracy throughout the lifecycle of released products. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working in highly structured environments, managing complex product data, and ensuring accuracy across numerous configuration details. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple stakeholders.

What you will be working on

Key Responsibilities

Configuration Management & Product Structures
  • Create, maintain, and validate product structures, BOMs, and configuration models within PLM and ERP systems.
  • Support Product Structure Management (PSM) and configuration activities for released products.
  • Ensure product options, variants, and configurations accurately reflect engineering intent and manufacturing requirements.
  • Review and validate configuration data to ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Identify and resolve configuration discrepancies that may impact manufacturing, ordering, or shipment execution.


Product Lifecycle & Change Management
  • Support implementation of Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to ensure approved changes are accurately reflected in product structures and BOMs.
  • Perform change impact assessments and verify readiness for implementation.
  • Support product release activities and build readiness reviews.
  • Assist with sustaining engineering and high-volume manufacturing (HVM) execution activities.


Cross-Functional Execution
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Order Fulfillment, and Product Line teams to resolve configuration-related issues.
  • Participate in configuration reviews and readiness assessments for product changes and new product introductions.
  • Support recurring execution reviews by tracking actions, risks, and open items related to product configurations.
  • Assist with ensuring BOM readiness and configuration alignment for manufacturing and customer deliveries.


Continuous Improvement
  • Support configuration process improvements that enhance data quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Assist with standardization initiatives that reduce product complexity and improve maintainability.
  • Help develop and maintain configuration documentation, work instructions, and best practices.
  • Participate in root cause investigations for configuration-related issues and support corrective actions.


What we are looking for

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 3-5 years of relevant experience.

OR
  • Master's degree in an Engineering discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting product lifecycle management, manufacturing engineering, product engineering, configuration management, or related technical functions.
  • Familiarity with BOM structures, engineering changes, and product data management processes.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple functional teams and priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Semiconductor equipment industry experience.
  • Experience working with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Exposure to Product Structure Management (PSM) concepts.
  • Experience with Variant Configuration (VC) models and configuration management processes.
  • Knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI) and High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) environments.
  • Experience supporting complex capital equipment products.
