Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join us as an Electrical Engineer based onsite in Rolling Meadows, IL.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Engineering team, where they will work on Infrared Countermeasures (IRCM) suite of products as a Test Engineer.

Manufacturing Engineers thrive in an environment of daily unique challenges and proximity to products. Partnering with production, successful test engineers lead troubleshooting and ensure excellence in hardware and software. Engineers who do well in this setting enjoy seeing their work perform in a test or a product, collaborate and communicate well across functions, and are innovative problem solvers. Best suited to this role are those who enjoy learning and bring a sense of urgency and energy to their tasks.

What you will get to do:

  • Identify and implement improvements and corrective actions across products and processes.
  • Analyze test failures and failure data to identify trends; create failure analysis materials such as charts, quad charts, and customer presentations.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze metrics (e.g., yields, touch time/test time) to identify continuous improvement opportunities; optimize processes to reduce cost and increase throughput.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of lasers, turrets/transmitters, ultraviolet sensors, infrared sensors, system processors, and associated test equipment and systems.
  • Contribute to research, design, development, and test activities for a variety of electronic equipment and systems.
  • Support the production floor and test technicians with timely technical guidance.
  • Lead and support Non-Recurring (NRE) projects, including test station design, drawings and validations, and development testing.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve technical hardware issues.
  • Execute hardware integration and test activities.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including change notices, parts lists, bills of materials, test reports, and test procedures.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contract manufacturers (CMs) on test readiness, escapes, and quality improvements.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Basic Qualifications for the Electrical Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology or a related STEM field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with data analysis and root cause/corrective action
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading projects
  • Experience presenting to key stakeholders
  • Experience with Python and/or C#
  • Experience coding scripts/automation
  • Experience with lasers and optics

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
