Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are searching for an Electrical Engineer to join our growing operation in New Iberia, LA. The role of the Electrical Engineer is to provide engineering support for the sales and project management teams. Provide technical guidance to support a team selling environment. Daily interface with customers and staff to ensure project schedules and performance objectives are met safely and on schedule. Responsible for designing and evaluating electrical systems associated with the Divisions portfolio of products.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION
  • Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment in the Marine, Oil and Gas and Industrial markets
  • Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects
  • Oversee assigned projects to assure they are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget
  • Provide planning for layout for electrical controls to meet customer requirements
  • Assist in development of budgets, estimating labor, and material costs for projects associated with controls and power distribution related to division sales activities
  • Utilizes corporate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to ensure data is managed and reporting is accurate
  • Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements
  • Provide detailed design drawings in AutoCAD to support our manufacturing activities
  • Inspect completed power system and controls installations, and test and observe operations to ensure conformance to design, equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards
  • Provide technical support to commissioning and field service personnel as needed.
  • Attend technical meetings as necessary
  • Conduct field surveys, study graphs, diagrams, and other engineering data to identify and correct power system and control problems
  • Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects
  • Investigate customer complaints, determine nature and extent of problem, and recommend remedial measures
  • Follow and enforce all safety rules and procedures; identify and report all safety issues
  • Complete training requirements identified by Caterpillar to earn and maintain job specific training certifications as required
  • Embrace and support quality management system initiates to achieve a continuous improvement environment

MOST IMPORTANT QUALIFICATIONS
  • Electrical Engineering Degree (BSEE) or 2 yr degree with equivalent experience
  • AutoCAD Experience
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to be flexible in handling changing schedules and priorities
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in power systems and controls design and operation preferred
