Job Description

We are looking for a Engineer, Communications in our Sacramento, CA office.

This role will be responsible for developing technical solutions, coordinating system interfaces, supporting compliance activities, and ensuring communications systems are successfully delivered into operation.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with complex transportation infrastructure projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, operators, suppliers, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

The Impact You'll Make (Job Responsibilities)

• Develop, review, and approve communications engineering deliverables throughout design, construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Support requirements management, system architecture development, and interface coordination across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Review supplier and contractor designs to ensure compliance with project requirements, operational needs, and applicable standards.
• Provide technical oversight for communications systems, including fiber networks, radio systems, telecommunications infrastructure, operational communications, and control center technologies.
• Support regulatory, operational, and compliance activities, including preparation and review of technical documentation and approval packages.
• Develop and support testing, commissioning, system integration, defect resolution, and final acceptance activities.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders, operators, consultants, service providers, and technical teams to ensure successful project delivery and operational readiness.

Qualifications

The Expertise You'll Bring (Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain licensure.
• 10+ years of experience in railway communications, operational telecommunications, or transportation systems engineering.
• Proven experience delivering communications systems through design, integration, testing, commissioning, and operational acceptance.
• Experience with fiber optic networks, IP/MPLS networking, radio systems, operational telecommunications, LTE, FRMCS, or other mission-critical communications technologies.
• Strong understanding of systems integration, operational communications, cybersecurity interfaces, and transportation infrastructure applications.
• Demonstrated ability to develop technical deliverables, support compliance and operational approvals, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and contractors on complex infrastructure projects.

Compensation & Pay Transparency

At Egis, we believe transparency helps candidates make informed career decisions. As part of our commitment to an open and equitable hiring process, we've included the anticipated base salary range for this position below.

Anticipated Base Salary Range:$160,000 - $240,000 annually.
