Summary:
UNC Health is seeking an exceptional candidate to join as an Engagement Manager, Strategic Planning. This is a unique opportunity for a mission-driven individual to join a dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced team environment.

The Engagement Manager is an important part of UNC Health's Strategic Planning team supporting development of the organization's strategy. This individual is responsible for leading the development of impactful strategies across different regions, entities, service lines, and industry topics. In this role, the Engagement Manager will lead project teams and work closely with leadership to develop hypotheses, conduct supporting analyses, and bring forward recommendations that are data-driven, thoughtfully designed, and aligned to organizational goals. The Engagement Manager will lead engagements and be expected to organize both individual and team responsibilities and work assignments to meet project goals. The individual may also support system-level initiatives and partnership strategies, with opportunities to support both strategic planning and corporate development engagements. The individual will interact frequently with system leaders and providers at all levels of the organization. Engagement Managers may also serve as a key liaison to clinical and administrative leadership with a system service line or key geographic region.

The Strategic Planning team is part of UNC Health's Strategy & Transformation division, which includes Strategic Planning, the Transformation Office, and Strategic Intelligence. An ideal candidate is highly motivated to take on complex project assignments, collaborates effectively with teammates, is analytical and a strong problem-solver. Prior experience leading strategic consulting engagements is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Lead several strategy projects or major initiatives, ensuring timely and successful delivery. Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to drive growth and innovation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives. Identify and analyze complex business problems. Develop creative solutions and recommendations. Make data-driven decisions to optimize outcomes.
  • Analytics: Understands data sources and tools. Analyzes sets of data accurately/efficiently. Partner in the development of new models and approaches. Identifies takeaways from analytics and can build a data-driven narrative with input from leadership.
  • Presentation Skills: Complete presentation-ready slides / documents summarizing work or analyses. Capable of presenting own work in front of broader audiences. Collaborates with leadership to deliver presentations to external audiences. Ability to facilitate and manage meetings with leadership involvement.
  • Client Relationships: Works collaboratively with others, respected by peers. Proactively engages with leaders associated with project work.
  • Leading People: Leads people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Ensures that departmental goals match those of the organization and that resources are allocated to meet priorities. Establishes an environment that creates incentives for, and eliminates barriers to, a team environment. Articulates common goals and communicates how individual roles contribute to team success.
  • Leading Change: Proactively assesses the need for change and obtains resources to implement change initiatives. Communicates effectively and appropriately. • With a Bachelor's degree, the following work experience is required: Six (6) years of relevant or three (3) years at a top tier consulting firm.
