In our Navigation & Sensor Systems, Test Engineering team located at our state-of-the-art facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa that opened in 2022. Here you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and implement innovative test solutions for critical GPS receivers and sensor systems. Our Navigation & Sensor Systems team delivers flexible, efficient, and highly reliable navigation and guidance solutions for a diverse range of applications - from airborne systems and precision guided munitions to handheld receivers and embedded. This Test Engineering team is responsible for developing automated electronic test solutions for functional and environmental tests. This team resolves complex challenges through high communication and innovative thinking with design engineering and production customers.
What you will do: This role is primarily focused on developing test software that automates the testing of Navigation & Sensor Systems products in lab and factory environments.
Seeking a highly motivated and skilled Test Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our cutting-edge GPS receivers, anti-jam systems, and other critical navigation products. This position offers a unique opportunity to design, develop, and implement sophisticated automated test solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the evolution of our test engineering architecture.
What You will Do:
- Develop & Implement: Design and build innovative test systems and solutions to validate the performance of our navigation products through functional, environmental (thermal, vibration), and boundary scan testing.
- Software Engineering: Develop robust and maintainable test software using C# and C++. Develop Test Sequences in National Instruments TestStand environment.
- Hardware Integration: Integrate and troubleshoot test solutions incorporating a diverse range of instrumentation, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and PXI hardware.
- Communication Protocol Expertise: Support software integration for various communication interfaces, including JTAG, Ethernet, Serial, USB, GPIB, and CAN.
- Interface with COTS Equipment: Design software to effectively interface with Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) test equipment through Interface Test Adapters (ITAs), custom cabling, and direct connection to the Unit Under Test (UUT).
- Digital Engineering: Utilize digital engineering modeling techniques where applicable to optimize test design and reduce costs.
- Collaboration & Support: Provide expert technical guidance and support to Design Engineering and Operations teams, troubleshooting complex test-related issues and ensuring smooth product transitions.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in C++ and C#.
- Experience with automated test solution development.
- Experience with these tools: Cameo/MagicDraw, Asset ScanWorks, Microsoft Visual Studio, NI TestStand, ASIC/FPGA development tools and microprocessor development environments.
- A desire to grow and develop skills in C# for test software code development.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences through written and verbal means.
- A proactive and improvement-focused ability to leverage experience and analyze existing test solutions to optimize future test solutions.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely
Required Skills and Education- Must have a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline
- Be capable of hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment
- US Citizenship is required
- Must be capable of obtaining a U.S. DoW Secret security clearance
Preferred Skills and Education- Bachelor's degree in Software, Electrical, or Computer Engineering
- 5+ Years experience working as a Software Engineer
- Coding/tool experience with C#, C++, LabWindows CVI, and NI TestStand
- Digital Engineering Experience with Cameo/MagicDraw
