Job DescriptionBAE Systems is seeking a Senior Principal LO Antenna Design Engineer to work in our Merrimack, NH location in a Hybrid role that will require mostly on site collaboration with a larger team.
The primary activity of this role will be to lead Antenna technical teams in the design, analysis, test, and manufacture of LO Antenna Systems. The applicant must be able to work independently with minimal technical direction.
The candidate's primary activity will be to lead Antenna technical teams in the development, design, analysis, test, and manufacture of LO Antenna systems. The candidate must be able to work independently with minimal technical direction and work with systems engineering developing and managing system level RF and Radar Cross Section (RCS) requirements, developing operational systems concepts, and assisting with system architecture trade studies, ultimately defining Antenna Specifications and requirements. The candidate will verify and validate aspects of system design to ensure conformance with functional specification and customer requirements. The candidate will define the technical approach and details of antenna design (Gain, VSWR, FOV, RCS, etc) he/she is responsible for. They will supervise both peers and more junior engineers and will seek out domain expertise as needed and work hands-on with antenna assembly personnel (Operations) fabricating porotypes, antenna test, debug, integration and support of product manufacture and qualification. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of antenna testing (Gain/Pattern and RCS as required) and be responsible for support to production. The candidate will present to customers (internal and external), provide inputs into program budgets and schedules and provide major inputs to proposals.
A good understanding of the fundamental trades within the entire antenna and RF sub system is desired. This includes the aperture domain as well as the RF electronics directly interfacing with the antenna. Experience with link budget analysis and propagation modelling are required to properly size the components within the antenna sub system relative to platform and channel constraints. An understanding of transceiver cascade analysis and signal processing is desired to support the interface between the antenna sub system and the transceiver. Experience with requirements flow down as well as traceability within the larger system is a plus
