BAE Systems, a global leader in defense, is seeking a Lead Production Engineer to establish the Production Support and Test Engineering processes for our Precision Guided Munitions (PGM) team in Maple Grove, MN. The Role
As the Lead Electrical Engineer - Automated Test and Manufacturing Systems, you will bridge the gap between design and delivery. You will be instrumental in building the electrical engineering support and testing function the ground up, driving solutions for complex manufacturing and assembly challenges. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will develop innovative testing solutions for a high-volume production environment while ensuring strict compliance with all quality and manufacturing policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate design requirements into robust production test procedures, equipment, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and oversee electrical test processes, including MIL-STD environmental testing (e.g., vibration, thermal).
  • Analyze test data and document results to validate system performance, safety margins, and quality compliance.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for test and production issues.
  • Partner with external suppliers to develop and build automated test equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, safety, and AS9100 quality standards.
  • Coordinate the calibration and operation of precision electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, power supplies).
  • Design and improve test methodologies to enhance efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Support subsystem/system integration, verification, and acceptance testing for flight hardware.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and customer requirements to develop qualification procedures.
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams.
  • Apply Lean methodologies to continuously improve manufacturing and testing flow.

Physical Requirements
This role requires regular presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. The incumbent must be able to access and safely navigate production areas which may include climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces. Must also be able to comply with all requirements including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 8+ years of production support experience.
  • Ability to design, implement and project manage automated test systems and equipment.
  • Expertise in electrical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW and standard bench-top test equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and CAD models.
  • Strong technical documentation and cross-functional communication skills.


Preferred Skills and Education

  • Experience designing and implementing automated test systems and equipment
  • Experience with military specifications (Mil-Spec), avionics, system integration, and AS9100 standards.
  • Proficiency in Simulink/Matlab, PLC programming, and automated test system development.
  • 5+ years of electro-mechanical assembly and electronics soldering experience (IPC/J-STD preferred).
  • in the end-to-end process of design, analysis, testing, qualification, and fielding of complex systems.
