Our two design centers in Endicott, New York and Austin, Texas are the home for our next generation technical solutions. Engineers will develop flight and mission-critical products for commercial and military customers. When you become a member of our team, you will work across multiple disciplines and collaborate with Systems, Hardware, Software, Test, and Operations during all phases of the product development and production support lifecycles. These roles involve a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work and will take the form of a hybrid work schedule, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Position SummaryJoin our team of Power Electronics Circuit Design Engineers who are tasked with the architecture, design, test, and verification of high-reliability DC/DC and AC/DC power electronics. In this position you will support the development and product support of advanced avionics, for both military and commercial aircraft, including engine control computers, flight control systems, aircraft propulsion systems, cabin and cockpit electronics.
As a Senior Power Electronics Circuit Design Engineer you will make impacts in the following ways:- Design, test and qualify DC/DC and AC/DC power electronics to support various military and commercial flight control and propulsion system applications.
- Conduct internal research and development to push our power electronics technology forward and help provide innovative solutions for our customers.
- Support aftermarket in troubleshoot and root cause corrective actions for field returns, production test failures, and product improvements.
- Leverage and reuse existing designs within the CAS portfolio to reduce risk, schedule and cost of new development
- Write, review and track hardware requirements to show overall compliance to customer and industry specifications
- Collaborate with EMI/EMC Engineers and Systems Engineers to design robust and reliable power electronics
- Own and execute the part selection, schematic capture, PWB layout, circuit performance analysis and simulation and design verification testing
Required Skills and Education- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 10 or more years of industry experience designing and testing power electronics
- Highly experienced with isolated and non-isolated DC/DC and AC/DC power supplies with power levels up to 500W.
- Highly experienced with hardware troubleshooting and debug
- Highly proficient with design analysis tools such as LTSpice, PSpice, SIMPLIS, Matlab and MathCad.
- Experience performing component level circuit stress and derating analysis
- Experience in circuit tolerance analysis considering end of life and environmental limits
- Experience in designing for EMI/EMC and Lightning Protection
- Highly experienced with PWB design, component layout and trace routing constraints specific to switching power supplies
Preferred Skills and Education- MS/MEng in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 15 or more years of aerospace industry experience designing and testing power electronics
- Highly proficient in design analysis tools such as LTSpice, PSpice, SIMPLIS, Matlab, and MathCad
- Highly Experienced with buck, boost, sepic, cuk, flyback, and forward converter topologies
- Experience working in high voltage/high power lab environment
- Experience in designing for and testing to MIL-STD-461 and DO-160 standards
- Experience with Siemens Xpedition® EDM (engineering data management) tool suite
- Experience with mitigating fault propagation and failure mode effect analysis (FMEA)
- Experience in writing technical requirement specifications for avionic hardware
- Some experience with analog, digital and mixed signal circuitry
- Some experience with digitally controlled power converters and systems
- Some experience in Model Based Engineering
