Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to support the design, construction, and commissioning of various multi-million dollar modernization programs, as well as day-to-day project support at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, review, and approve instrument specification data sheets.
- Develop equipment lists, instrument indexes, loop sheets, and I/O lists.
- Ensure all drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
- Ensure design documents adhere to applicable governing codes (NEC, NFPA, ISA, UFC, etc.).
- Participate in reviews of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Contribute to Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) to ensure the safety of equipment, personnel, the public, and the environment.
- Collaborate with plant technical staff to discuss technical specifications and features.
- Prepare sketches and perform calculations for detailed project segments.
- Develop equipment specifications, Requests for Quote (RFQs), and purchase requisitions for approval.
- Evaluate vendor bids and drawings to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Communicate equipment design to project personnel and cross-functional disciplines.
- Assist in the preparation of design guides, guide specifications, and contract proposals, including Basis of Estimate (BOE) and Statement of Work (SOW).
- Develop Electrical Area Classification (EAC) documents for instrumentation installations in hazardous areas.
- Participate in plant start-ups and field assignments, including equipment inspections at vendor facilities.
- Coordinate with construction personnel regarding constructability, field conditions, and scheduling.
Note: This role requires regular presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. The incumbent must be able to access and safely navigate production areas, which may include climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces. Must also be able to comply with all requirements including the us of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.
Required Skills and Education- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related degree and 4+ years of applicable experience
- Experience in the development of Instrumentation and Valve Specifications
- Experience in the design of PLC or DCS based control systems
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code requirements for industrial facilities and hazardous locations
- May consider candidates with related experience or fewer years experience for a more junior role or additional experience for a more senior role
Preferred Skills and Education- Experience in the design of industrial chemical manufacturing facilities
- Experience with Department of War or explosives manufacturing
- AutoCAD and instrumentation specification and sizing software
- Ability to obtain Professional Engineering License in TN and VA #LI-Onsite #LI-JR1
