Job DescriptionAs an electrical engineer at BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS), you will be at the forefront of designing and developing cutting-edge, high-reliability electronic designs for space applications. If you're passionate about creating innovative solutions that push the boundaries of technology, this is your chance to make a lasting impact.
What You'll Do:- Design and Develop Next-Gen Hardware: design of detailed circuit architectures for space-based electronic systems, focusing on performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Model, Simulate, and Analyze: Utilize modeling and simulation tools to bring your designs to life. Perform in-depth analyses, including worst-case circuit analysis, parts stress analysis, and signal integrity assessments to ensure your systems can withstand the harshest environments.
- Digital Design Expertise: Work with digital architectures, including FPGAs, microprocessors, and high-speed communication interfaces including XAUI, sRIO, PCIe, and SpaceWire. Develop digital filters and image processing algorithms that drive innovation.
- Analog and Mixed-Signal Mastery: Design and optimize analog and mixed-signal circuits, focusing on power supply electronics and general analog design. Your creativity will bring critical system components to life.
- Test and Validation: Create comprehensive test fixtures and plans to validate your designs at both chip and board levels. Develop reusable circuits that enhance efficiency across multiple projects.
- Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including parts engineers, layout engineers, and systems engineers. Together, you'll define requirements, troubleshoot anomalies, and drive projects forward.
- Lead and Learn: Take on leadership roles in anomaly debugging, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions. Grow your skills and expertise in a dynamic environment.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working
on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: - Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Skills and Education- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Experience with electronic circuit design, electronic systems, as well as software.
- Hands on experience with lab power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators, and logic analyzers is required.
- Good communication skills, as well as excellent presentation skills.
