Primary PurposeLeads complex trading strategies that integrate storage, transport, and regional hub dynamics across multiple time horizons. Develops structured opportunities, sets regional views, and drives portfolio optimization while maintaining discipline under the firm's risk and compliance standards.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assesses asset value and executes physical and financial gas trades to extract value while ensuring operational reliability.
- Assesses market liquidity and volatility to adjust positions and strategies that preserve capital and optimize returns.
- Builds and maintains relationships with key counterparties including producers, end-users, marketers, pipeline operators, and brokers.
- Confirms and approves optimal purchase timings, prices, quantities and delivery modes, and develops daily nomination strategies.
- Leads short-term electricity market analysis and operational review to develop and defend trade strategies.
- Makes markets and supports asset optimization teams in hedging the company's generation portfolio.
- Negotiates and executes trades through exchanges, brokers, and bilateral solicitations.
- Structures and prices non-standard gas transactions while ensuring alignment with credit, legal, and risk frameworks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education- Requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience- Requires 8 years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Required: Data Analysis - Measuring and managing organization data, identifying methodological best practices and conducting statistical analyses.
- Required: Deal Structuring - Prioritizing the objectives of a merger or acquisition and ensuring that the top-priority objectives of all parties involved are satisfied, along with considering the weight of risk each party must bear.
- Required: Energy Market Analysis - Examination and evaluation of national and international regulated markets that deal specifically with the trade and supply of energy.
- Required: Energy Trading Strategy - The strategic approach taken to trading in energy market in order to take advantage of fluctuations in price and volume when buying and selling energy commodities.
- Required: Energy Transaction Management - Managing the purchase or sale of a specified quantity of energy at a known transaction point or through an organized market.
- Required: Pricing Structures - Defines the pricing setup for products or services, including the core price points plus discounts, offers, and strategy.
- Required: Regulatory Compliance - Ensuring an organization's adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes.
- Required: Risk Management - Identifies, evaluates and manages risks by developing and implementing risk management strategies, frameworks, policies, procedures and practices.
- Required: Scenario Planning - Scenario planning focuses on an outlook for the future. It is a method with which organizations can form an idea of possible future scenarios and how these may affect their strategic objectives.
- Required: Trading Position Management - Management of exposure to risk when trading by aligning positions within intended trading strategies and risk parameters.
