Energy Resource Planner - Project Manager IV

Join us as we plan for the future of energy resources...

We are seeking an Energy Resource Planner (Project Manager IV) to support our vision of the energy future in the Energy Resource Planning team within the Energy Planning & Innovation section. We are planning for the energy transition by adding 1,500 megawatts of new generation by 2030, piloting technologies and systems to connect and modernize our grid, and helping our customers participate and benefit from new renewable resources. We are also preparing to transition into the Southwest Power Pool Regional Transmission Organization to benefit from its wholesale electricity market, resource adequacy program and other regionalized services. This will support our renewable energy goals, improved system reliability, and will provide new opportunities to buy, sell, and trade power. You will be part of supporting this transition and further development and implementation of our Sustainable Energy Plan.

How you'll make an impact...
  • Lead the development of long-range integrated resource plans (IRPs), including scenario modeling, risk analysis, and portfolio optimization
  • Serve as the technical lead on resource adequacy, capacity expansion, and decarbonization strategies
  • Direct and mentor junior staff and consultants in modeling tools such as PLEXOS and EnCompass
  • Represent the utility in regional planning forums and technical advisory committees
  • Translate complex modeling outputs into actionable insights for executive leadership and regulatory filings
  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local regulations impacting resource planning and ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across engineering, finance, and operations to align planning assumptions and investment strategies
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators and reporting for resource planning initiatives

Who you are...
  • A bachelor's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Accounting, Data Science or a closely related field
  • Seven or more years of progressive experience within planning and analytics is required
  • The ability to perform complex analysis, planning, and technical writing functions is valued
  • Experience working with SPP policies and processes is desired
  • A sound understanding of the principles of electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and infrastructure is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of wholesale energy market dynamics and trends is desired
  • The ability to continuously grow knowledge and abilities through the future energy transition is highly valued
  • Must be a strong team player who recognizes how their decisions may impact others and seeks input from other stakeholders across the organization and industry
