Position Overview
Central Maine Healthcare is seeking an Endocrinologist to join its team serving the Central Maine region. The Endocrinologist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with disorders of the endocrine system. The physician provides comprehensive care for patients with diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, obesity, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, and other hormonal conditions. The Endocrinologist collaborates with primary care providers, specialists, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based patient care.

Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Manage acute and chronic endocrine conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings as applicable.
- Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic test results.
- Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.
- Provide ongoing disease management and preventive care recommendations.
Diabetes Management
- Diagnose and manage Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes.
- Oversee insulin therapy, insulin pump management, and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems.
- Address diabetes-related complications and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
- Educate patients on diabetes self-management, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modification.
Specialty Endocrine Care
- Diagnose and treat thyroid disorders, including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer.
- Manage osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases.
- Evaluate and treat adrenal, pituitary, and parathyroid disorders.
- Assess and manage obesity and related metabolic conditions.
- Diagnose and treat reproductive and hormonal disorders, including hypogonadism and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
- Manage lipid disorders and metabolic syndrome when appropriate.
Collaboration and Care Coordination
- Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, oncologists, nephrologists, cardiologists, and other specialists.
- Supervise and provide clinical guidance to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), nursing staff, and ancillary personnel as applicable.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care conferences and case reviews.
- Coordinate referrals and transitions of care.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Complete consultation reports, treatment plans, and follow-up documentation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree, with completion of an accredited Endocrinology fellowship.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism
- J1/H-1B visa candidates accepted
