Your Role

The Senior Legal Analyst, Employment Practices & Compliance serves as the team's lead Wage & Hour subject matter expert and compliance analytics partner. This role is responsible for monitoring and implementing employment law requirements, mitigating legal and operational risk, and driving compliance initiatives across the organization.

Working cross-functionally with Legal, Human Resources, Payroll, HR Technology, Operations, Talent Acquisition, and other business partners, this position translates complex legal requirements into practical business solutions. The Senior Legal Analyst also leads compliance reporting, dashboard development, AI-enabled analytics, and technology initiatives that provide meaningful insights and support proactive decision making.

This role combines employment law expertise, project management, data analytics, technology implementation, process improvement, investigative documentation support, and change management to help ensure compliant and effective business operations.

Your Impact

Serve as the Wage & Hour Subject Matter Expert
• Monitor and interpret federal, state, provincial, and local wage and hour laws and regulations.
• Assess emerging legal requirements and partner with stakeholders to implement compliant business solutions.
• Provide guidance regarding overtime requirements, exempt classifications, meal and rest periods, scheduling regulations, final pay obligations, pay practices, and related employment law requirements.
• Partner with Legal and business leaders to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
• Support compliance reviews, audits, investigations, agency inquiries, and litigation-related documentation requests.

Lead Compliance Initiatives
• Manage and support employment law compliance projects from assessment through implementation and sustainment.
• Develop requirements, business processes, communications, training materials, and learning approaches to support evolving legal requirements.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to implement sustainable compliance solutions and maintain project documentation.
• Drive process improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
• Coordinate change-management communications and learning opportunities when business or legal changes affect associates.

Drive Analytics, Reporting & AI Innovation
• Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, metrics, and monitoring tools that provide visibility into compliance performance and emerging risks.
• Leverage AI, automation, and business intelligence tools to analyze workforce and compliance data from multiple HR systems.
• Identify trends, operational risks, and opportunities through advanced data analysis, including wage and hour compliance, contingent labor standards, and training completion.
• Deliver meaningful reporting, spend visibility, and business recommendations to internal and external partners and leadership.
• Estimate training and implementation costs, when applicable, to support budget planning for brands and business partners.
• Evaluate opportunities to improve reporting, monitoring, data quality, and compliance processes through technology and AI-enabled solutions.

Partner on Technology & Testing
• Collaborate with HR Technology, Payroll, and Operations teams to implement employment law requirements within workforce management, payroll, scheduling, and HR systems.
• Lead compliance-related testing activities, develop test plans, validate system functionality, and document outcomes.
• Support implementation of technology enhancements that improve compliance monitoring and operational effectiveness.
• Develop scalable processes, reporting solutions, standard operating procedures, and tools that promote sustainability and reduce manual effort.

Provide Investigative & Regulatory Support
• Research and provide documentation regarding complex regulatory and compliance requirements related to wage and hour, equal employment opportunity, and other employment practices matters.
• Support internal and external investigations, audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inquiries with accurate, timely, and confidential documentation and analysis.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive associate, legal, and business information.

Build Strong Partnerships
• Develop trusted relationships across Legal, Human Resources, Payroll, HR Technology, Operations, Talent Acquisition, and other functions.
• Communicate complex legal and compliance concepts in a practical, business-focused way using appropriate formats and media.
• Influence decision making through data, expertise, diplomacy, and collaboration in a matrixed organization.
• Apply strong business acumen to connect organizational structures, operations, leaders, standards, and processes.
• Support a culture of compliance, accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement.

Your Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Legal Studies, Labor Relations, Public Policy, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in employment law compliance, wage and hour compliance, human resources, legal operations, labor relations, or related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects, maintaining project documentation, and supporting compliance initiatives.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, judgment, and communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications, with experience analyzing data from HR systems.
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, influence stakeholders, and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting a multi-state retail, distribution, manufacturing, hospitality, or other large hourly workforce.
• Experience with workforce management, timekeeping, scheduling, payroll, HR technology, or database applications, including UKG or similar systems.
• Experience developing compliance dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Experience leveraging AI and automation technologies to support reporting, analytics, compliance monitoring, or process improvement.
• Experience supporting audits, investigations, litigation support, EEO matters, or regulatory compliance reviews.
• Professional certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, Certified Payroll Professional, Paralegal Certification, or related credentials.

Other Information
• Travel required: 10% or less.
• Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.
