Job Description

We are looking for a talented eMobility PPS Quality Leader to join our team specializing in engineering for our Cummins' business in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Drive alignment across technical and core teams by negotiating reliability requirements and delivering clear, executable plans to new product development leadership.

Improve new product reliability by applying deep systems knowledge to proactively prevent, detect, and correct product issues.

Enable data-driven decision making through the creation, management, and continuous improvement of quantitative reliability analysis and FRACAS processes and tools.

Strengthen organizational PPS capability and maturity by standardizing best practices, reinforcing problem-solving discipline, and ensuring lessons learned are captured and institutionalized.

Influence program outcomes by balancing reliability risk, resource planning, and development timelines.

Lead cross-functional problem resolution efforts using industry-standard methodologies (e.g., 7-Step Problem Solving, 8D), ensuring clear problem definition, data integrity, traceability, and customer protection.

Exercise independent judgment in issue prioritization, escalation, and governance decisions to protect the customer and the business, operating with accountability for outcomes-not just process compliance.

Collaborate closely with Engineering and cross-functional stakeholders to align on priorities, risk assessment, corrective action ownership, and execution, positively impacting Total Cost of Quality (TCoQ).

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Master reliability fundamentals and data-driven analysis by applying failure mode avoidance, FRACAS, quantitative reliability analysis, and risk management to proactively prevent, detect, and correct product issues.

Plan and execute robust reliability testing by developing system-level and accelerated test strategies that uncover unknown failure modes and validate reliability targets with confidence.

Navigate complexity and ambiguity effectively by making high-quality, timely decisions, managing competing technical and program inputs, and optimizing processes to drive consistent results.

Influence and collaborate across the organization by building strong networks, communicating clearly with diverse stakeholders, coaching others, valuing differing perspectives, and fostering innovation to improve product reliability.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Accelera eMobility Product Problem Solving (PPS) Leader within the Quality function, enabling effective, efficient, and disciplined resolution of complex product and field issues.
  • Determine assignable cause through rigorous, data-based analysis across design, manufacturing, supplier, and usage interfaces, particularly for high-risk, ambiguous, or multi-system issues.
  • Drive robust containment, corrective, and preventive actions, ensuring solutions are validated, sustainable, and embedded to eliminate recurrence.
  • Identify systemic root causes and proactively influence improvements to design governance, validation practices, manufacturing controls, supplier processes, and quality systems.
  • Act as a technical and leadership mentor, coaching engineers and quality leaders on disciplined problem-solving expectations, analytical rigor, and effective use of PPS tools and processes.
  • Influence without direct authority across functions, regions, and external partners to ensure timely and effective issue resolution aligned with Accelera eMobility quality and reliability objectives.
