Full Job Description
JOB TITLE

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI)'s Regulation & Certification Department is currently seeking a Compliance Engineer for our team at the Chino facility in California. HATCI's Emissions and OBD Compliance Team helps support Hyundai and Kia vehicles meeting the challenging environmental and emissions standards at the federal and state levels, through certification and in-use testing. Compliance Engineers are responsible for analyzing emissions and fuel economy results, reviewing OBD data, and other field-related items. Engineers may conduct vehicle emissions or OBD testing as needed.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Comprehensively review in-use compliance emissions test results for failures and/or trends and flag concerns for additional investigation
  • Manage and/or conduct mandatory OBD PVE and ZEV PVV compliance testing, including test plan development, report generation and submission
  • Analyze emissions-related component warranty claim data to identify compliance risks and/or meet mandatory reporting requirements
  • Compile, review, and submit quarterly CALID/CVN information for OBD DEC-ECUs
  • Lead/support emissions and OBD compliance investigations
  • Support test budgets and evaluation vehicle administration
  • Draft and/or review remedial action documents to address in-use compliance issues and correspond with regulatory authorities in support of approval
  • Communicate with product development to drive investigation and resolution for any issues identified in compliance testing
  • Conduct regular alignment meetings with all stakeholders, including senior management, to ensure compliance issues are addressed in a timely manner


WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Educational Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field of study
  • Related Industry Experience Requirements:
    • 5+ years of engineering experience
    • 2+ years of emissions and/or OBD development or compliance experience
  • Required Skills and Knowledge:
    • Experience with vehicle emission testing (40 CFR b71066)
    • Basic understanding of vehicle OBD system and regulations (13 CCR b71968.2 and/or b71971.1)
    • Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making abilities
    • Proficiency in planning, executing, and closing projects
    • Flexibility in handling multiple projects concurrently
    • Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of emissions certification and/or compliance processes
