Job Summary

The Emerging Contaminants Advisor provides strategic technical leadership, subject-matter expertise, and guidance on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and other emerging contaminants across the organization. This role supports development and stewardship of PFAS Issue Management Team strategy, goals and activities including but not limited to program and project risk assessments, technology evaluations, and technical advocacy opportunities. The advisor serves as a technical advisor on remediation projects, regulations, remediation options, and industry best practices while enabling the company to anticipate and mitigate environmental and operational risks.

Key Deliverables of Position

  • Technical Leadership & External Interface
    • Serve as a senior advisor on emerging contaminants for Business Units, Operational Assets, and Issue Management Teams (IMTs), providing direction on the most complex or high-impact issues.
    • Advise and influence Senior Management, providing authoritative assessments of technical, regulatory, and business risks.
    • Provide training, technical presentations, and stakeholder education on PFAS issues and regulatory trends.
    • Participate in research collaborations and technical forums to stay current on best practices.
    • Foster relationships with consultants and technology developers.
  • Risk Assessment & Management
    • Lead identification and assessment of PFAS-associated risks across sites, operations, supply chains, materials, and products.
    • Provide expert input to risk evaluations, environmental impact assessments, liability forecasting, and corporate sustainability reporting.
    • Recommend mitigation measures and long-term management strategies.
  • Project Development and Management
    • Develop and follow best practices to ensure site-specific risks are assessed, actions prioritized and risk management plans developed
    • Support site investigation and remediation strategies in collaboration with consultants, labs, and internal teams.
    • Guide project teams in the selection and evaluation of technologies and support the research and development of new technologies
    • Guide environmental monitoring programs including sampling plans, laboratory methods, QA/QC, and data review.


Skills, Experience, and Business Accomplishments

  • Master's preferred in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Toxicology, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental compliance, remediation, regulatory analysis, or related technical roles.
  • Strong knowledge of PFAS chemistry, fate/transport, environmental monitoring, and treatment technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting environmental regulations and guiding cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage projects within scope, cost and schedule
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex science for non-technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, interpretive decision making
  • Influencing others without formal authority
